Walk and eat your way through vibrant street life rich in 20th century African American history. Leave room for ice cream at the end.

Top Food Tour in U Street Washington DC

We have taken many food walking tours in Paris, Georgia & Vietnam. And the U St, Food & History Tour ranks high marks. The guide is knowledgeable, very friendly and helpful. Expect to take plenty of steps through this ironic neighborhood of historic black-own businesses, murals, and new condos. The tour began with a spicy sausage chili dog from Ben's Chili, then Ethiopian lunch, macaroni & cheese, ice cream from Made from Friends and a Cuban dessert. You will not be disappointed in the food, history and the tour.

Hot Day, Cool Treats

We enjoyed our Food Tour with Stevaan very much. It was an extremely hot July day and he went out of his way to make sure we had plenty of water and was able to get our group inside some of the restaurants for our tastings. Interesting to learn the history of U street while enjoying tasty bites of Soul, Ethiopian, Cuban and locally made ice cream.

Our tour guide Mary accomadted our tour for my wife. My wife had limited mobility and Mary ran ahead to place and pick up our food. I highly recommend this tour for those that want to learn about a local history outside DC.
