We met our guide Stella in front of the palace and received a great tour. She is very knowledgeable and a devoted teacher. She tailored the experience to our background and knowledge
Day trip to Torino, Italy

The first royal capital of Italy and the city where the chocolate candy bar was invented! Nancy and I enjoyed this tour thoroughly. Paolo, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Torino. The Royal Palace is immense with beautiful rooms and galleries. Paolo explained throughout how the palace had been modified within over the centuries dependent on the whims of the current inhabitants at the time. The Armory Gallery was incredible featuring ancient weapons from knives and spears to crossbows to early firearms. Of course the various examples of human and equestrian armor was unbelievable! Later Paolo led us through the Shroud Chapel and gave us the history and how the chapel caught fire but miraculously the Shroud was not destroyed. You don't actually see the real Shroud as Pope Francis has restricted viewings to very special church occasions. Finally Paolo gave us a brief history of chocolate in Torino and shared where to get the best chocolate and Bicerin (a layered drink of hot chocolate, coffee and whipped cream) in town. Batatti y Milano on the square surrounding the Royal Palace and Madama(queen's) Palace is a cafeteria(sandwiches, etc), fancy restaurant and chocolatier all rolled into one. We had a sit down lunch there complete with aperitifs(Hugo & Aperol Spritz) great food and Bicerin for dessert for 79 euros. we would recommend this tour with Paolo to everyone who visits Torino!
