Great time!

We went on the tour recently with our two children ages 4 and 6. Trip felt very safe and we all had a great time — Claudio our tour guide was excellent. I’m he was engaging and kept everything very interactive. Highlights for us was seeing pottery her made, feeding monkeys, and a tour of Grenada

Wonderful Trip

This was an awesome trip. It was a long day, but worth it. Shopping in Nicaragua was much cheaper than in Costa Rica. Our guide Claudio and the driver were great. We took a boat on Lake Nicaragua and saw the various islands, we feed the white face monkeys and the spider monkeys. We saw the active Masaya Volcano. The chocolate plantation was great. We did a lot of shopping there. Breakfast and lunch were included in the tour. We toured Granada by horse and carriage. Our group shared the carriage ride and split the price so it ended up being about $5 per person. We also visited a cigar plantation.

Fantastic trip, Elmer our guide was so knowledgeable and keen to share information about his country. A very long day but worthwhile to see such lovely places. Loved Catarina with its pretty shops and amazing view of the crater lake. Granada is stunning, for the extra $10 per person I recommend the horse and carriage ride. Returned to hotel exhausted but happy.

Awesome tour and fantastic guide! Picked us up promptly at 5:45 for the ride to the border. Traveled with a group of girls from Denmark, two ladies from Switzerland and England, a young guy from Ohio and a group from Costa Rica. The border crossing went smoothly and we were on our way. Eduardo provided a great narrative on sights along the way along with the historic background of the country. Got some great shots of the two volcanoes from a stop for breakfast on the lake. Visited a small pottery site, shopped at marketplace in the colorful Masaya market and then on to Granada. Had a great lunch, took a water tour on Lake Nicaragua with some great views of the volcano, waterways, an island with monkees and lots of birds. Returned to Granada for a carriage ride and tour of this beautiful city and time to wander the city center and visit the large church followed by a tour of a cigar facility and a small chocolate store. We did not get the overview of the live volcano due to large releases of gas and high winds that day but were taken to a lava field where we got some good shots. Got back to hotel about 9 that evening. Long day but great tour guide, fellow tourists and sights and good deal for the cost!

Nicaragua - the beautiful
CARENA_D

This was a super cool tour. We weren't able to go up to the volcanic crater because there was too much activity (gases) but we walked on the 300 year old lava flow and were able to take pictures from afar. Lake Managua was beautiful with the volcanoes in the background, and having brunch steps from the beach was magical. The view from Catarinas market (be sure to bring cash if you plan to buy anything at this outdoor artisan's market) has to be seen to be believed - fabulous lake views with the pacific ocean just over the land bridge. Our guide Eduardo was very knowledgeable and walked us through the border crossing with ease. The potting wheel demonstration was a lot of fun, and visiting monkey island after seeing all the volcanic islands that people live on in Lake Nicaragua, was the high point - be sure to buy some avocados to give to the spider monkeys, they'll take them out of your hand! If you get the chance to go on the horse drawn tour of Grenada (beautiful city!) do so, the guides are really knowledgeable. You get to visit the cigar factory, that created a foot long cigar for Arnold Schwarzenegger and finally a must not miss chocolate extravaganza at the chocolate museum. The guide shows you have chocolate paste was made - and is very high energy - you won't forget bate bate chocolate and be sure to get in line for the chocolate massage too :) Highly recommend, especially if you get to go to the volcanic crater. It is a long day, but well worth it.

Waste of time and money. Avoid..

It was by far the worst tour I had in my life, and I take hundreds of tours.
1. They told us the Masaya volcano was closed only after we crossed the boarder into Nigeria. They said it was closed 5 days ago for 20 days, but it never occurred to them to tell us before the trip. So here goes the main highlight of the trip cancelled.
2. They basically took us to a ceramics shop (they called a factory); then a chocolate shop (that they called a factory); then a cigar shop (that they called a factory).
3. The tour guide was trying to trick us in every corner to take our money, not help us.
4. When we got to know that the trip is only a few shop visits, we asked the tour guide that we would take a taxi and visit something interesting for us, then meet the rest for teh drive back and he refused to tell us when or where.. He was very rude, and when I told him that all he cares about is the commission he is getting from the shops, and that we paid a lot of money and we are waisting a lot of our vacation time on this trip, he asked us to leave the bus in the middle of nowhere.
They said they provide bottled water, well it is 1 bottle a person for the whole day, and we stopped at a supermarket to buy food, because what they provided was very little.
In Summary, it is the worst tour you can ever make, Just a waste of time and waste of money. You will end up spending about 3 hours in shops, about 6 hours on the road, and 40 minutes in Granada.

Great Day in Nicaragua
JSchuller

We had a wonderful day with Edwardo our guide and Carlos our driver. We knew going in it would be a long day so that should be expected. Logistics we great. Our resort was 30 mins from La Cruz so they had arranged a car to pick us up and we met the bus with the rest of the group coming from the other resorts. Perfect timing! We crossed the border with just one minor glitch (we sent info prior but somehow my info wasn’t on record, Edwardo quickly fixed). We enjoyed breakfast in Rivas. The stops were timed well with beautiful views. It was a pity that the Volcano Nat’l Park was closed due to Nick Wallenda’s crews setting up for his March 4th high wire attempt. I will hand it to Carlos because he took us to a lookout at Las Fieras del San Fernando Stadium where we could see the steam and volcano. Bonus to see the stadium dedicated to Roberto Clemente! We ended our day in Granada City with a terrific (optional) horse carriage tour through the city ($10/pp charge) with stops at a cigar factory and chocolate shop - both highlights of the day. Lunch was very nice & good. We completed our time in Granada with the boat tour which was good, but a little overrated and felt very rushed. We barely saw a couple monkeys and did not feed them as we were told. The boat driver pretty much just zoomed around the island to check a box and back we went. No fault to Edwardo, just a bad boat guide.

Wonderful trip. Everything was taken care of, especially taking care of our passports at the border which was a great relief. Anyone thinking about taking a day trip to Nicaragua You really need to let this company handle the trip and just sit back and relax. Believe us you won't be sorry. Would highly recommend them to anyone. First rate company.
