Nice, but not great. Expensive

Was not like any other food / history tour we have done - it was good but lacked imagination on the stops and food. Essentially it was a market visit, a restaurant visit and a gelato visit.

Wonderful Tour

We loved this tour, which combined delicious (and plentiful) food along with interesting stories about the history of the area. Our guide made a specific effort to engage our kids in conversation to make sure they enjoyed it as well. I would definitely recommend this tour!

Disappointed
Johanne_Y
, Oct 2021
Because my brother was seriously ill with eminent death, I had to cancel my trip. I was able to cancel the Krka waterfalls tour on line but not the Split History tour, not even when I sent a follow up email it did not get canceled. Needlass to say, I was charged for a tour I was unable to take. So I'm not happy.

We had a great evening with Doris as she explained interesting historical facts about the city and brought us from restaurant to restaurant to sample delicious local cuisine. Not a ton of walking involved, but lots of time sitting at places ofd the beaten path enjoying drinks & food! Everything was delicious & we had fun chatting with the other 2 people on our tour. Would recommend to anyone looking for a tasty, relaxing evening of regional food & drink!

This was a great tour. Not only was the tour guide informative and made the tour interesting, but the food was excellent. The visit to the green market was great and felt so authentically Croatian. The lunch was a great value, and extremely good food. There was a wide variety of different types of foods, so no matter your tastes, come hungry!

Fantastic experience with a wonderful guide.

I couldn’t thank our guide Doris enough for the wonderful experience she provided during our cultural gastro tour of Split. The food was plentiful and delicious. She provided a clear and thorough explanation of the location visited as well as the local dish and wine we sample during the tour. We really enjoyed this guided tour as we would have never been able to discover many of the interesting spots Doris walked us through. It was the highlight of our visit.

Very boring guide and very limited basic food tastings. Not worth the price.
Boris_N
, Jul 2021
We have taken similar food tours all over the world and this was by far the worst. First, our guide (Doris) was extremely boring, spoke in a very monotone voice, and was very hard to hear in most places. In all the other food tours we have taken, the first thing the guides did was to give everyone a bottle of water and had extra water on them throughout the tour. In this tour, no water was given, nor was our need for water while eating salty food in 96F degree weather even acknowledged. Out of the 3 hours, 1.5 are basically spent walking around the green market, where the guide (Doris)) stopped every few feet and droned on for 15 min about something we could not hear from 3 feet away. The food tasted was basically limited to prosciutto, cheese, a few free sweet samples (lemon peels and honeyed nuts), lunch at a local restaurant (where we had a few small appetizer samples and two pasta samples in limited quantities), and ice cream. Considering the price of this tour, the very boring guide and limited very basic food tastings, I would not recommend this tour to others. Overall, we were all very disappointed.

What a wonderful time spent with Doris. She was incredibly knowledgeable and showed us the highlights of Split culture. We tasted some delicious prosciutto and local bread and cheese. Enjoyed a wonderful peasant vegan dish and enjoyed a wonderful lunch with fabulous breads and several different fish based appetizers and 2 delightful pasta dishes in a wonderful setting. We ended with some yummy gelato! A great time was had by all.

Good overview of the town but the food was weak

This was a good overview of the town, but the food part was not worth it. The price was high for the service
icon Response from Host , Jun 2021
Dear Suheit, Our tour was created as an tasting tour with several food stops plus major historical highlights of the Old town. So far all our guests were more than satisfied with this combination and with the amount of gastro delicacies on our tour so we are very sorry we didn’t meet your expectations and will do our best for all our guests to be happy with our experience. Thank you for your feed back!

Combine foofd and history

We had Doris to ourselves for this tour in off season. Very knowlegable and sophisticated guide. The green market was unremarkable except for the tastes of local products. But the restaurant stop was memorable—small intimate spot hidden deep in the palace complex with excellent local cuisine and wine. Ending with with more walk and talk about history of Split.

We had a great time on this tour, Our tour-guide was very informative and friendly and the food was beautiful, come hungry because there is a lot of it and the wine was plenty as well. We went to a few different types of eateries each one with a bit of a history lesson on the food and where we were. I would highly reccommned it, the highlight of our three nights in Split and we did a lot!
