Receive an included pickup in the morning from your San Juan hotel, after which you’ll transfer by air-conditioned bus or van through a number of local Puerto Rican towns heading to El Yunque, one of the oldest forest reserves in the Western Hemisphere.

You’ll continue into the rainforest, heading to the first trailhead to take your first guided nature walk. Continue to the reserve’s El Portal Visitor Center, where you’ll have time to explore the exhibits including an elevated forest walkway, walking trails, and educational displays as you learn more about this unique ecosystem. Leave the visitor center behind and head to La Coca Falls, an 85-foot (26-meter) cascade that plunges down a series of rock formations into a shallow pool.

Then head to Yokahú Tower, a 69-foot (21-meter) tall tower offering unobstructed views of the surrounding countryside, plus a range of lush plant life like wild flowers, giant ferns, tropical hardwoods, and tree orchids growing nearby. After your stop at the tower, you’ll receive a transfer back to your San Juan hotel.

TLDR: Great halfday tour with plenty of information. Get to see some sites and relax by the river.
, Dec 2021
James was a fantastic tour guide. He gave us facts and lessons along the way to the forest, not just about the rainforest but also about San Juan. He picked us up exactly on the dot and took us through some waterfalls, a few sites, a tower, and a small hike to a river. We also stopped to eat some empanadillas on the way back with fresh juice. He also asked for a special moonshine they make for Christmas ever hear (not coquito) which was a nice experience. Left at 7:30 and reached back around 14. Great half day and not strenuous. You don't sweat as the weather in the rainforest is actually significantly lower than the surrounding area and you're not traversing through muddy area or difficult areas. I would say this is suitable for all ages and a great brief into the rainforest, especially as many areas are closed due to the hurricane from 2017.

La coca falls was great, we appreciated Francisco’s stories. We also enjoyed the quick stop at the food trucks.
It was amazing!

Our half day tour was not able to happen but they did call us to see if we wanted to upgrade to a full day for only 25 dollars more per person!! And we are soooo glad we did! Just go ahead and just schedule the full day! Our tour guides Julian and pocho were absolutely perfect and amazing and knowledgeable

Highlight of your visit

Julian was an excellent tour guide. He was funny, knowledgeable, and helpful. He and his team took some great pictures and was able to download them to us immediately. Overall, the tour was strenuous and adventurous, but the sweat it created was cooled off nicely with a dip in the water.
Didn’t go

No experience planned to do a half day was called the day before and offered a full day which did not fit my schedule. Awaiting a refund. I’ll give it 3 stars just because someone reached out to me

Dear Sharis, We understand and respect your position. I am sorry it didn't work out. We expected for this part of the forest to have reopened by now for us to offer tours again, but it has been delayed. Our most sincere apologies. Rest assured full refund was issued on April 17th.

We were lucky enough to have Frank and his team! What a great guide!! We were switched from the hiking tour to another, due to covid and park access issues. It was the greatest thing that happened for our trip to PR. Natural water slides, cliff jumping, climbing dynamic terrain..! Perfect day and really made our trip. It was challenging, fun and really tests your courage. So thankful for the opportunity. By the end of the day you basically feel bonded with the people you toured with. It is not something that can be easily described, but definitely an adventure you won't soon forget! Speaking as a mother, with kids 5-17, I would still say do it. The kids really adapted and enjoyed the climbing, mud and scenery. The older ones loved the water adventure side of the tour too! And again, Frank was amazing and made everyone comfortable! He provided extra help with the little ones and was very accommodating! Bring money to tip, they really earn it!
Excursion switched out the evening before

Beautiful but disappointed
, Feb 2021
The hike was beautiful; unfortunately, it was not as advertised. I understand some parts of the park are closed due to COVID, but i wish this had been reflected in the activity’s description, which promised a climb up the observation tower. I was also disappointed that the guides were not explicit about litter and masks. Many of the participants were littering in the jungle, and guides did not talk about litter before the hike. In addition, guides did not enforce mask wearing on the bus, and many participants and the guides as well did not wear a mask for significant portions of the bus ride. I felt extremely unsafe. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the gorgeous scenery and the opportunity to slide down a rock into a refreshing pool of water!
Loved it
