Returns to original departure point
Start your full-day combo tour at San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf, where you’ll meet your guide and small group for the drive to Sonoma Valley. Board your minibus and head north across the Golden Gate Bridge, listening to a brief overview of the day’s itinerary. You’ll stop at a vista point for photo ops of the shimmering — or fog-shrouded — bridge, city skyline and Marin Headlands.

On arrival at the picturesque hilltop location of Cline Cellars, a winery established by Sonoma’s Sebastiani family, enjoy a tasting of wines such as chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon and sangiovese. Continue up the road to the Homewood Winery for your second tasting.

Sample varietals like malbec, pinot noir or perhaps a sparkling rosé at this unpretentious venue; perhaps enjoy some bocce ball in the large outdoor space, located in the heart of the Carneros region.

Return to Fisherman’s Wharf, where your guide leaves you with your ticket to Alcatraz. You have about two hours of free time to spend on lunch and independent sightseeing (own expense) before checking in at Pier 33 and boarding the public Alcatraz ferry — just a 20-minute walk or a quick pedicab ride away.

View the Golden Gate Bridge and city skyline from the water during the scenic ferry crossing over San Francisco Bay to Alcatraz Island. On arrival, slip on a provided headset for an independent audio tour of the notorious penitentiary. Hear award-winning commentary from former inmates and prison guards as you learn about life inside the cell block.

Most visitors spend about two hours at Alcatraz, but you can take the ferry back to Pier 33 when you’re ready.

Please note: Winery/vineyard locations are subject to change.

Great Day!

I bought this as a birthday present for my boyfriend as we never had gone wine tasting before or seen Alcatraz and thought it would make for a fun day and IT DID! The whole process was easy and enjoyable from being driven to Sonoma and the chosen wineries to being dropped off at Fisherman's Wharf for lunch to having tickets at will call for the ferry ride to Alcatraz. We thoroughly enjoyed our day because it didn't feel overly planned out and we were left to do what we wanted with loose structure

great wine,great time

A great way to experience 3 of the bay areas pleasures in one day. We enjoyed both wineries. The larger property had a very interesting free California Missions museum to go through. The second winery-much smaller-was a pleasure because of an excellent hostess,Pat. She also let us sample a more expensive wine not on the normal list. The drive was pleasant because of our friendly tour guide(Stephanie,I hope I got that right!)who kept up a friendly banter the whole way.The stop at Fort Point to view the Golden Gate bridge was short-I wish that had been longer. We got dropped off near Fisherman's Wharf and had at least 2 hrs. to eat and browse before making our way to the Alcatraz Ferry for that leg of the trip. We had over 2 hrs. on the island which may or may not be enough time for some folks(arrive at 4:15,depart at 6:30,approx.).For us it was fine,we were exhausted from a full day(my phone said I had nearly 19K steps for the day! Highly recommend for those who can handle a lot of walking!

Enjoyed the sites but was too rushed to enjoy Alcatraz. Ticket was scheduled the last ferry of the day. Driver was knowledgeable, but we were unfamiliar with area and we were dropped us off a good distance from ferry start location.

Alcatraz and Sonoma Valley Wine Tour
Suzie U
, Oct 2018
The wine tour was great. The vineyards selected were both excellent, the driver was lovely and the presenters at the vineyards really knew a lot about wine. The only downfall was the drop off point from this part of the tour to the next part was a bit far to walk for an unfit person.Alcatraz is a bit stressful to get on and off the ferry as there are a lot of people. Alcatraz itself is fascinating but beware, a few very steep hills to walk.
