After meeting your cocktail connoisseur guide at a location in central San Francisco, your tour starts at Pacific Cocktail Haven for a hands-on class in how to make bitters, an essential ingredient for any good beverage. Following a recipe, you can experiment with homemade tinctures (herb extracts) to create your own blend, which you'll take home with you in a custom jar. Plus, taste one of the bar's signature drinks.
Then continue your culinary exploration by visiting four more bars and eateries (subject to change), such as Rx, known for its medicinal-inspired cocktail menu, and Rye, home to a secret gimlet not on the menu, as well as a seasonal drink. To avoid drinking on an empty stomach, you'll also visit a local spot for half of a banh mi (a Vietnamese sandwich) and enjoy a sausage sampler at Hogwash.
Throughout your experience, learn about the culture of cocktails in San Francisco, where the bartenders are some of the most innovative in the country. The city has become a drinking hotspot due to revived classics and farm-to-table philosophies about cocktail ingredients.
