Board your luxury coach, and travel from Rome to Tuscany with its scenic, rolling hills. Your first stop is Montepulciano, a town renowned for its fine wine and views. The Renaissance hilltown is best-known for its production of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, a full-bodied red wine. Learn about it on a walking tour, and discover highlights such as the Florence-style clock tower, the cathedral with its yet-to-be-finished façade, medieval wine cellars, and the old town walls.

After a break for photos, travel further into Tuscany to explore the area around Montalcino. Step inside Sant’ Antimo Abbey, and then soak up the vistas that stretch beyond the vineyards.

Hear how the local vineyards produce the acclaimed Brunello di Montepulciano wine, and then sample a glass for yourself over a 3-course lunch at a local farm. In traditional Tuscan style, the menu features fresh farm-grown produce as well as a selection of local wine.

From the farm, travel on to Pienza, one of the region’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Here, enjoy free time to explore. The layout of the town was created by Pope Pius II, who wanted to change the look of his birth town. Admire the historic center, which stays true to the pope’s vision, and gaze at the fine architecture that abounds. If you are a fan of food, check the shops for pecorino cheese, arguably Pienza’s most prized product.

Your day trip finishes with your coach journey back from Tuscany to Rome.

Tempio di San Biagio
Immerse yourself in the architecture of St. Biagio's Church. This temple is the result of an exceptional synthesis between the artistic language of the Renaissance and the beauty of the Tuscan landscape, due to its peculiar location in the midst of a breath-taking landscape overlooking the Tuscan hills. The church, an example of a Renaissance Greek cross central plan, was used for the original design by Bramante and Michelangelo for St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.

A Tuscan experience

This tour was truly a taste of Tuscany. We had a 3-course meal with different wines at a Tuscan winery. We visited Montepulciano and a wonderful guide introduced us to this amazing city. I highly recommend this tour.

The tour sounded like a great idea. The tour guide was fantastic. Super knowledgeable, sweet and made the tour great. We loved her. I'm not sure I would consider this a 3-course lunch and wine tasting though as the major description though. There was far more sightseeing and history at the local towns and driving than the actual wine tasting and lunch. We stopped at 2 quaint little towns for a walk around. The 1st was guided by a local woman for about :45 minutes giving us some history and such, but other than being guided through the town we had no chance to really shop, explore, and there was no wine! The second little town was an even shorter stop. We were shown the town's panoramic view for pictures and then barely had time to go to the bathroom and get a gelato before having to be back on the bus. When we finally arrived at the winery it felt a bit rushed. Our 3-course meal was a sampling of some rosemary olive oil bread (which really was good, but it was a simple basket outside served with our 1st wine), but we then were hurried inside and the single basket was taken to 1 of the tables (not ours) so we didn't get more than 2 tiny pieces and didn't get to really enjoy our white wine outside or enjoy the winey before we were hurried to our tables for our 2nd course. The second course was a small plate of meats and cheeses. All very good, but by the time we got to the property all of us were starving so this was an incredibly small portion size. We were served more wines for tasting (all very good) and then finally a small serving of pasta. Again, the pasta was great, but smaller on the portion sized compared to what you'd get at a restaurant locally. All and all I'm not really sure I got my money's worth. We were on the bus from 7am-7pm and ultimately even though we sampled 5 wines it was maybe only a glass worth total. I understand not wanting people drunk, but I was really expecting a glass at these different towns as we explored and were given the history. The vineyard almost seemed tacked on versus the highlight of the trip. And it's hard to give a mediocre review because again the guide was fantastic, the towns we stopped at were great, and the winery was really wonderful too (we ended up buying olive oil and a few bottles). It just wasn't exactly what I was hoping it'd be especially for the money. There was so much time on the bus and so quickly rushed through the town, but we stopped twice at this little convenience store (on the way back for over :30 minutes). I would've rather that time been put to more exploring at the towns or longer at the vineyard than the semi-pressure of buying generic stuff at this store which the tour and it were clearly working together to have tourist buy stuff.

A Tuscan tour to last a long time

Ciara was excellent! She was very professional, constantly made sure everyone was comfortable, understood directions, and provided so much information. The bus driver. Mauriscio, was great...he knew the roads and drove professional. It is a challenge driving in Rome and he was fabulous. Thank you both!

I've been on a number of tours over the past 20 years of traveling (mostly solo) to Italy. Andrea was AMAZING!!

It was a small group - not 35-50 people - which made it a dream. Andrea was amazing - always providing relative information, responding to our questions and excited for us to experience and see the beauty and grace of these towns. It was a dream for me. As a solo traveler for the past 4 years, I would recommend this tour without any reservations. It was long but necessary to see all the majesty and beauty which we experienced. Thank you to Andrea and Giuseppe our driver - an amazing, class A, terrific team! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Day trip to Tuscany from Rome is a must do

Tuscany is a must see side trip on a visit to Rome - time allowed. We spent 7 days and this one side trip was worth it. It is not far and additional stops at small villages were special and added historical significance. Anna was a superb guide with an affable and knowledgeable style. The winery and tasting with lunch was memorable. A small group of 16 was friendly and in encumbered. This is a great value.
