Your walking tour starts at Piazza Barberini, where you’ll meet your guide and board and air-conditioned coach to the Christian Catacombs.

Descend into the chill of Rome’s mysterious underworld with Skip-the-Line access to three of the city’s strangest discoveries.

Unmask a new side to the Eternal City as you explore the eerie Bone Chapel, adorned with the bones of 4,000 Capuchin monks, and the Christian Catacombs, a series of hidden tunnels where early Christian’s practiced their forbidden faith.

Then travel beneath the Basilica San Martino ai Monti to discover layers of ancient foundations offering an insight to civilizations long fallen.
Stop At:
Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccini
Escape the noise and heat of Rome as you explore its cryptic past on the city’s longest running crypts and catacombs tour. Beat the heat with air-conditioned travel and Skip-the-Line access directly down into cool, shadowed spaces that hide layer upon layer of history. First, you’ll visit the hallowed catacombs where, beneath their persecutors’ feet, early Christians practiced their forbidden faith. Almost 2,000 years ago, this secret network of tunnels doubled as a place of worship and burial ground. As you explore tombs carved out of solid rock, your guide – a local, expert English-speaker – will relate the fascinating history of this sacred spot.
Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes

Stop At:
San Martino ai Monti
When you exit the catacombs, your bus will take you back within the city walls to the Basilica of San Martino ai Monti. Near the edge of the Parco del Colle Oppio, this unassuming church dates back to the 4th century - it has been rebuilt over the years, but is filled with a great sense of history just waiting to be discovered. Stunning frescoes adorn the walls, from artists such as Pietro Testa, Matteo Riccione and Giannangiolo Canini.
Duration: 40 minutes
Admission Ticket Included
Stop At:
Museum and Crypt of Capuchins
Your final destination is the Capuchin Crypt. Capuchin monks used the bones of nearly 4,000 of their brothers to decorate this somber space in intricate floor-to-ceiling designs, lending it the macabre nickname of ‘the Bone Chapel’. Your guide will tell you the theories, but it’s up to you to draw your own conclusions about the meaning of the crypt’s robed skeletons and vertebrae chandeliers. Open your eyes to the city’s hidden side – and you’ll never see Rome the same way again.

Very good tour
, Oct 2021
Great tour by John. Well organized. We were a tad behind because of traffic so slightly rushed in the crypt, but overall great experience.
John took us back through time
, Oct 2021
The highlight of our tour was John, our tour guide. He was fantastic and very knowledgeable. I appreciated his humor and his passion for Roman history. John was a combination of Indiana Jones and a cool older brother.
Definitely recommend!

This was a fantastic tour. Highly recommend. I believe our tour guide was Max, and he was fantastic. We split into two groups and Alain, the guide for the other group was also excellent. Their English was very good and they were easy to understand and answered every question with ease. They made the tour very fun and interesting.
Great and with variation.

We misunderstood the meeting point and thanks to the very serviceminded and kind manager of the catacombs of Callixtus and our excellent guide, Max, we joined and had a great trip.
Great tour

The crypt of Carpuchion was amazing. Our guide, John, was the best. We’ll spoken, informative and witty
Not worth it. Sorry
, Oct 2021
This just wasnt worth the time or money. Your are pushed through the crypts and nothing to connect to. I felt like I was just looking at some sideways holes. Then when we made it to the the church with the decorated rooms, we felt like we were being so hurried and didnt even get to stop at gift shop. Felt very rushed and unenjoyable.
Allain was a great tour...
, Oct 2021
Allain was a great tour guide. Knowledgeable, straight to the point, no overtly dragged on stories or explanations and kept the tour going. The tour is exactly what you expect. Walking underground through tight-quartered catacombs. The chapel of bones is amazing but it’s unfortunate you cant take pictures. If you’re into this creepy stuff, I would recommend.
Great tour!

Julieta was very knowledgeable and helpful! We had a blast walking through the catacombs with her. Also all directions were so easy!
Prague’s Sedlec Ossuary or the Paris catacombs are better
, Oct 2021
This tour consisted of going through empty catacombs and seeing four small rooms of Capuchin bone displays. While it was cool it isn’t nearly as interesting or shocking as the Sedlec ossuary in Prague or the Paris catacombs. You also aren’t allowed to take pictures anywhere, which I thought was silly. While our guide was nice and knowledgeable I think based on what we received this tour was the least value for the money of the three my friend and I did.
Learned a lot!

We enjoyed the crypt and the catacombs the most. Devon was very informative and engaging. Great day in Rome!
