Return Details

Foro Romano, 00186 Roma RM, Italy

Colosseum/Roman Forum

Make your own way to a central meeting point in Rome to meet your guide and group.

Walk over to the Colosseum with your skip-the-line ticket in hand, then bypass the main entrance lines to head straight inside the arena via the Gladiator’s Gate. Transporting you back in millennia, your guide regales you with stories of the gladiators who fought here to their death.

From the arena, head up to the first floor to see where the bloodthirsty Roman crowds bayed, and gaze out over Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum—your next stop.

Leave the Colosseum, and walk over to the forum as you hear tales of imperial-era Rome. Wander around the main ruins and monuments of the ancient plaza, which was a center of political activity in the city’s heyday.

Finish your tour near the Roman Forum.

NOTE: There is a new rule at the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill that only small backpacks and regular-size handbags are allowed inside. Guests with larger bags are not allowed to enter (there are no storage facilities) and all guests must now pass through a security check before entering the Colosseum.

Stop At:
Colosseum
Step off the tourist track in the Colosseum and get a gladiator’s-eye-view by using their special entrance and stepping onto the normally off-limits arena floor. You can’t get closer to the action than this. The arena floor is where people actually fought and died in the Colosseum. While most visitors only ever see it from the stands, you’ll bypass long, general entrance lines and step directly onto it via the special Gladiator’s Gate. As you marvel at the great amphitheater around you, your expert guide will tell stories to transport back nearly 2,000 years, when vicious blood sports were the most popular form of entertainment in Rome. During your tour you’ll also explore the rest of the Colosseum, including the first floor and Roman Forum overlook.

Our guide, Hectore, was like the fun and interesting guy at a party. He was very knowledgeable about all of the historical facts but also added some fun information. He kept the tour moving and we finished exactly on time.

The meeting place was very easy to find. The tour guide was absolutely amazing and she was very knowledgeable on all the history of the forum and the colloseum! The headsets made it very easy to hear everything she said. Plenty of bathroom breaks, but bring water. I highly recommend this tour!

Davide was an amazing tour guide. I messed up my tour reservation and he did all he could do to help me out and ended up getting me into the Colosseum that day. You don't need to be worried to be bored to death, Davide makes it entertaining and keeps your attention with his humor.

This was an informative and engaging tour. A must see when going to Rome, although I don't know that the extra money for the gladiator entrance was worth it.

Worth the experience

Ahmed was a great tour guide! He paced the group throughout the key sites. Very knowledgeable. Always found us shaded areas to sit as he discussed the history of Ancient Rome. Highlighted key points along the way and discussed them with great detail. He was able to answer multiple questions about the area from those on the tour. Provided great lunch recommendations. Highly recommend this tour if you want to find those key areas of Ancient Rome instead of walking aimlessly around. We did this as a family (two kids age 11 and 8) and one commented that the tour was worth the experience.

Not good. Very amateur.

Very bad. It was easy to book, but terrible to provide the service. The first email was ambiguous about time and address. The tour guide was missed by 5 minutes because the first emails wasn't clear about pre arrival time. The second attempt was charged with a lot of discussions and long phone call, but surprisingly again they were not able to provide the services because of new rules that were informed at the time of the tour. Even after so many phone calls and discussions, the money was not fully refunded and the Colosseum was not visited because of their mistakes.
