After hopping aboard your coach in Rome, head out of the city with your guide and admire the scenery as it changes from urban to rural. Travel through the hilly region of Castelli Romani, passing by olive groves and centuries-old vineyards where wine has been made since the days of ancient Rome.

Reaching the Frascati region, arrive at the Principe Pallavicini estate, where the Pallavicini family has been making wine since the 17th century. Tour the property to learn about the different stages of wine production, from grape to bottle, and hear about the evolution of winemaking techniques through the years.

Visit the wine cellars, which date back to the 3rd century, and learn about the acacia and French oak barrels that age the fine wines produced here, many of which have won awards such as the Decanter World Wine Award and Vinitaly Cangrande Award. Then head to the 17th-century farmhouse for your tasting session with a sommelier, who helps you to notice different fruit flavors of the wines. Sample one of the estate's red wines, such as Casa Romana or Soleggio, a white wine, such as Poggio Verde, and a dessert wine, Stillato.

At the end of your winery experience, your tour ends with the drive back to Rome.

Stop At:
Frascati Centro storico
Meet your guide and hop aboard your air-conditioned coach in Rome’s Piazza dei Re di Roma in the mid-afternoon, and head out of the city into the rolling hills of the Castelli Romani to begin your tour. Travel through ancient olive groves and past row upon row of centuries-old vineyards, and soak up spectacular views of the verdant Italian countryside. The fertile soils here have been used in wine production since the Roman Era and there are thousands of years of winemaking heritage to discover. Head deep into the Frascati region — where the celebrated Pallavicini winemaking family has been working the land since the 17th century — and follow your guide on a tour of the Principe Pallavicini estate. Gain insight into the various stages of wine production and learn how their techniques have evolved from antiquity to the present day. Step inside 3rd-century cellars where fine wines mature slowly in Acacia and French Oak barrels, and listen as your guide details the complex winemaking processes at play. The wines produced on this estate are regular winners of prestigious international awards such as the Decanter World Wine Award and the Vinitaly Cangrande Award, cementing their place among the region’s very finest. Continue on to the estate’s beautiful 17th-century farmhouse and enjoy a tasting session led by the professional sommelier. Sample delicate fruit flavors in reds such as casa romana and soleggio and subtle sweetness in whites like poggio verde, before finishing with a taste of the delicious dessert wine, stillato. When it’s time to depart from the estate, hop back aboard your coach for the journey back to Rome where your wine tasting tour will come to an end.

Amazing, well worth the money.

We did this tour in September 2019 and it was well worth the money spent. We were taken by bus to Frascati and walked around a vineyard and saw the wine grapes. We then went to the actual wine tastings where we were given four samples of wine, and some snacks. It was very informative. We were also offered the opportunity to buy some of the wine from the region, and they were all very reasonably priced. The tour guide (I cannot remember her name, but she had curly hair), gave us info about the surrounding areas on the drive there and at the vineyard, and she was amazing. Overall would definitely recommend this tour!

Silvia was a wonderful tour guide, and the winery was very good. The driver was late to pick us up, but they made up the time at the end.

The grapes are ripe in sept tasted great, wish we stayed longer at the vineyard. The tasting room was extremely tight and people could hardly walk to the bathroom. The group was much too large

Nice to get our of Rome

We chose this tour the night before because Rome was so hot, crowded and dry. The bus was on time. Our guide Chiara was fantastic. The cellars at the aqueducts were very neat. The sommelier was pleasant and educational. We really enjoyed the wines as well. Bought four bottles. The scenery was beautiful. Of the 13 events booked on this vacation, this ranked very high. Our bus broke down at the wine fields and cellars. That delayed our time and a negative for some, but for me it made it better, staying longer in the fields in a beautiful and peaceful location. It was all handled well and professionally.

This was everything and more, tour guide Monica met us at the Piazza Re Di Roma and the journey was only 45 minutes to the vineyard. Along the way she gave us a historical guide of Rome and more importantly about the wine and food. Would highly recommend. The vineyard tour itself was well planned and informative, met a great crowd there.

Our guide Aleksandra spelling? was very knowledgeable and she did an awesome job translating at our tasting! Everything from start to end went smoothly. Learned lots of things at the tasting, even bought a bottle of wine which unfortunately got left at a restaurant . Definitely recommend!
