Palatine Hill, 00186 Rome, Metropolitan City of Rome, Italy
Your tour starts outside the Colosseum, where you’ll meet your guide, a Roman history enthusiast, and skip the entrance line with your fast-track ticket.

Inside, begin below ground to explore the Colosseum’s tunnels, chambers and pits. This section of the amphitheater is only open to a select number of visitors each day, so enjoy this exclusive chance to see more than most people do. While you walk through the underground passageways, listen to stories about the wild animals who were held down here and the Roman gladiators who prepared for their battles here.

Upon exiting the Colosseum, walk with your guide over to the Roman Forum, once the political heart of the city. Take in the sprawl of ancient ruins, and walk up Palatine Hill, once home to Ancient Rome’s wealthy residents, for a view of Circus Maximus, where chariot races took place. Your tour ends on Via Sacra, the main street of Ancient Rome that links the Colosseum to Capitoline Hill.

Please note: The order of sites visited may be reversed during your tour.
Stop At:
Begin your tour of Rome’s most iconic monument with Skip-the-Line access directly through the Gladiator’s Gate. Once the main exit for defeated contenders, this special entrance leads you directly to the parts of the Colosseum most tourists don’t get to see. Your first stop is the Colosseum Underground – the backstage area where gladiators prepared for battle. Here, your expert, English-speaking guide will call on their historical and archaeological expertise to let you imagine the space as it once was. Scenery and caged wild animals stood ready to be hoisted into the arena by ingenious pulleys. You’ll practically feel the gladiators’ tense anticipation and hear the roar of the blood-thirsty crowd. Then, walk in the gladiators’ footsteps on a partially reconstructed arena stage – a unique and amazing photo opportunity. And unlike the gladiators, you’ll get to ascend from the Arena Floor to the Colosseum’s second tier, where fans cheered the violent spectacles below.

Wonderful Colosseum tour

Our guide was wonderful. She met us and walked us through the Colosseum, to Palatine Hill and showed us the Roman Forum, which we were able to explore after the tour. She was quick with taking care of the entrance issues and gave us so much interesting information. Definitely worth it’
Well worth the cost.

Absolutely fantastic! From beginning to end the tour was exactly what we wanted and more. Our guide was passionate, knowledgable and really easy going. The tour was well organised and for someone who had OCD around COVID they took every measure possible to ensure the trip was safe for everyone! The tour made the final day of our trip - I’m so glad we booked it. Thanks, we would 100% book other tours with you!
For what we saw it was breath taking

We paid just under £150 for this visit and expected to get to all the usual places of interest plus the stage and the underground area. The underground visit which was meant to include " underground chambers walking tour " but turned out to be standing in one spot and just looking. Also included on the website was a " walk the arena floor ". The guide said that this was not on the itinery. I beg to differ. The guide was superb and explained patiently all our questions. To say that we were disappointed is an understatement. This is a once in a life time experience and having spent a whole afternoon trying to sort out the multitude of different packages, we picked the one that had all the areas we wanted to visit. Paying that amount we were robbed.

Fantastic , interesting tour. There’s so much more to know about what went on under ground as well as over ground. Our guide Francesca was lovely. She talked for 2.5 hours and was so enthusiastic and full of knowledge. Thoroughly recommend it

Really great experience in difficult times. Unfortunately our original tour, which included the underground had to be cancelled, at very last minute. The company said they would refund the difference and give a 50% refund for the disappointment, however we only got the 50% of the original which has ended up roughly the same as paying for the lesser tour. Our tour guide was excellent and her love of her job shone through!
Beautiful Inspirational Rome

The guide was very experienced and gave us an amazing overview of Rome back in the days. His English was amazing and he was able to answer all questions in a great and engaging way. We got a bit lost in terms of finding the start of the tour but the tour operator and guide helped us out a lot here which was super nice. I would definitely recommend this tour!
