Following pickup at the Progreso cruise port, transfer to a pre-arranged point to meet your guide. With your small group, board a Mercedes Benz minivan and proceed directly to the Mayaland Resort and Chichen Itza. 

Take advantage of skip-the-line access and private entry to the world-renowned archaeological site, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. Walk through the site's landmarks and highlights while your guide makes history come alive through their commentary. Imagine what life was like at the height of this Mayan Empire while viewing El Castillo (the Castle), the Pyramid of Kukulcán and the Great Plaza. Learn about the Toltec symbols from the invasion of AD 950 as your guide explains the architectural styles unique to Chichen Itza. 

Visit the Great Ball Court, Mesoamerica's largest, as well as the Temple of the Jaguars. See the Nunnery, the Temple of the Warriors and the Akab Dzib, among other important buildings. Enjoy some free time to explore independently before boarding your vehicle for transportation back to the Progreso cruise port. On the return drive, enjoy a box lunch.

Chichen Itza is the most famous of all late Maya cities and a holy place to the Maya for centuries. The earliest buildings date from 600 A.D. and are classic Maya. Those built from the 10th Century on, include Toltec symbols, the result of a Toltec invasion in 950 A.D. This merging of Maya and Toltec architectural styles is unique to Chichen Itza.  You will be accompanied by a certified guide, who will introduce you to the secrets of the Maya through the Mayaland´s private entrance, with a cold bottle of water for your visit.

We were dropped off, driver departed, bus to the ship had already left. We were on our own to find our way back to the ship....needless stress when the driver could have easily taken us to the ship or made the final connection arrangements. They could have done better.
