Departure Time

7:00 AM
Meet your driver at your hotel in the morning and begin your drive to Miravalles Volcano. Groups of four people receive private tours for a highly personalized experience, while groups of fewer than four people join another small group for an equally intimate excursion.

Take a stretch break to swim in the pool beneath a waterfall en route to the volcano, before drying off and continuing to the crater of Miravalles, the only walkable crater in Costa Rica. Upon arrival, pamper yourself in nature’s spa with mineral-rich volcanic mud and lounge in geothermal hot springs.

Eat a fresh lunch onsite, and then embark on a moderate hike through a tropical rain forest. Get close to the canopy as you walk across hanging bridges and pass by three waterfalls before returning to your car and transferring back to your hotel.
Stop At:
Miravalles Volcano
During this day trip you will be able to see the smoke, hot stones and crystallized sulfur among other scenic beauties of the Miravalles Volcano. An untamed mountain covered in rainforest will let us safely visit the only walk-able crater in Costa Rica. The first stop on the drive to the volcano, will be to visit one of the country's most beautiful waterfalls Llanos del Cortez see picture profile  (Additional charge $7 cash adult- $4 cash children) and if you would like to, you can bring your swimsuits and swim under the majestic water curtain. Next stop will be the crater at Miravalles, where you will see lots of geothermal activity and sense the mighty power from below us. You will have a volcanic mud bath and relax in the hot springs before lunch and then you will experience the tropical rainforest on a moderate hike along some breathtaking hanging-bridges and three more waterfalls ( Included on the package). This is a day full of waterfalls and volcano experience. Bubbling mud pools: The bubbling mud pools are holes that contain clay mud. These mud pools, which also have sulfured thermal waters, all have different temperatures:176º, 212º and 392º F (80º, 100º and 200ºC). This mud is odorless and can be found in three different colors: gray, brown and yellow. The coloration indicates how deep the pool is: The brown mud indicates a depth of two meters, the gray mud a depth of one meter and the yellow mud indicates the mud is from the surface and is full of sulfur. You can select the clay in which you want to bath and then obtain it from the bubbling mud pool. Whilst waiting 15 or 20 minutes for the clay to cool you down, you can enjoy one of the greatest marvels in the world. After bathing in this volcanic mud your skin will be left feeling fresh and smooth. What to bring? Don't forget your swimming suit, hiking shoes, sandals, change of clothing, binoculars, camera, sunblock, money and a hat. Awesome trip! Recommened

Eduardo was a great driver, and the tour was excellent. We saw some beautiful waterfalls and got to walk across some incredible suspended bridges. The lunch was more authentic than our visit to Coco Beach! The mud bath and hot springs were a unique experience.

We really enjoyed our trip to the Miravalles Volcano. The hot springs were amazing and would enjoy doing again. Our guide was great and provided a local experience for us. The only negative was not the fault of anyone but mother nature. The waterfalls were not as accessible as we had hoped due to a storm that brought down some trees and caused this problem. We were not able to get in the water as the picture shows.

We toured the forest, saw many waterfalls and walked on a couple suspended walking bridges. Then to the hot springs area and toured an old crater. If you want to do the hot springs or the mud bath bring towels. We finished the day with a great Costa Rican lunch in the restaurant next to the hot spring.

Beautiful scenery a little dangerous along some trails with wet slippery rocks. I would recommend this adventure

Excellent!! Carlos from Pininos Tours was our guide. He was amazing! He was early to pick us up, very friendly, helpful and made the trip. We took our camera and he volunteered to take pictures of us all along the way. After picking us up at our hotel, we drove to the Volcano and toured the craters. We then travelled up the mountain to see the most gorgeous waterfalls. The Hanging Bridges were amazing also. After a great rainforest experience, we had lunch at the restaurant on-site that was probably the best food we ate the entire time we were in Costa Rica I would recommend the fish. After lunch we changed into our bathing suits and enjoyed the mud bath, sauna, and the hot tub. The entire day 8 am - 4 pm was amazing.. would do it again!

My family had a great time. Our tour guide was very nice and laid back. The van we were picked up in was very clean and the AC was perfect. We traveled with 1 teenager and 1 five year old and they both had a blast. Great trip if you don't want to over exert yourself.

The Volcano was very impressive and our guide Carlos was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. The driver of our van sorry forgot his name also was very helpful and navigated the narrow roads in a very safe manner. Lunch was tremendous and overall this day trip was definetly 5 stars
