Returns to original departure point
Leave Paris for a full-day tour of two of the most popular day trip destinations outside the French capital, Louis XIV's Palace of Versailles and Monet's garden in Giverny.

Your first stop is Giverny, where Impressionist master Claude Monet lived from 1883 until his death in 1926. Walk across the Japanese bridge and gaze upon the water lily pond while you stroll the gardens that surround his former home. This picturesque landscape was the inspiration for many of his most famous paintings, including the Nymphéas series.

After a guided tour of Monet's gardens, it's time for a hearty lunch at the Moulin de Fourges. This 18th-century mill, inspired by the Queen's Hamlet, has been transformed into a restaurant and inn. From there, continue by coach to Versailles.

The opulent décor at the Palace of Versailles—once the extravagant home of King Louis XIV and Marie Antoinette—includes the Hall of Mirrors and the Royal Grand Apartments. On your guided tour, try to imagine daily life for the royal family. Then enjoy some free time in the World Heritage-listed Versailles Gardens and wander among the groves, sculptures, and fountains. On particular days, from April to October, they are part of a musical Fountains Show; if you're lucky you'll see this special display (cost included), set to the tunes of Louis XIV's era, before your day trip concludes with travel back to Paris.

Uninformative guide

Viewing Giverny was exceptional. I enjoyed that immensely. Our guide, however, was not very informative. He got us places, but didn't offer a lot of information. Versaille may have been lovely, but we did not have much time and our guide have very little information about the hall, the paintings, or anything else. He ran is through it. The lunch was lovely!! The restaurant and staff were fabulous. My star rating really reflects our guide.

Van was modern, clean, comfortable. Guide Francois was knowledgeable, responsive, courteous, fun, we’ll-prepared so all went smoothly.. Giverny is charming beyond words. Lunch restaurant, in a garden area beside an old mill, was exceptional—food was delicious, served artistically, accompanied by wine, served meticulously. We were a small group (7) and soon knew each other! The Versailles tour was probably too brief for others, but I was still enchanted with Giverny, so it was long enough.

Disorganized with minimal information

The idea of combining Giverny and Versailles in one day is great. Unfortunately, too much time is spent in Giverny and not enough time to explore the gardens in Versailles. The tour would work better in reverse, with Versailles first. Our guide was very nice, but gave minimal information about the history and no information about the areas we traveled through. She was pretty much silent during our drive time. Her microphone also died after Giverny, so we could not use headsets in Versailles and missed most of what she was saying. We could have done our own audio tour and gotten more information. We also went from a group of eight to about 25 in Versailles, as she picked up another group of people, combined with a long wait to get in, it seemed very disorganized. I would not take this tour again.

Elizabeth was the best! Plenty of time to stroll around the Monet gardens and see the town outside of the garden. I can't say enough about our lunch. Fantastic location with delicious food to boot. Versailles is just an impressive palace and a must see. Versailles Gardens were beautiful, wished I had a little more time there.

We really enjoyed the trip to Giverny. This has been on my bucket list for a long time and it did not disappoint. There were lots of people there but we had no problem making our way around the gardens. It was stunning. We enjoyed seeing Monet's home. Lunch was absolutely delicious in such a quaint restaurant. On we traveled to Versailles. It was raining and extremely crowded. To be honest it was not the experience we hoped for. We felt like sardines and couldn't wait to get out. Because of the rain our trip though the gardens of Versailles was rushed. This certainly was not the fault of our tour.

Best of Paris!

Monet House and Versailles are a must see if you are visiting France for the first time. The tour was comfortable and our guides were great. There was ample time to see everything and anything you would like to at Monet House. If you are visiting Versailles for the first time, I would recommend a different tour where you can spend more time there. 2 hours at Versailles is only enough to visit the main building. The gardens and other buildings a worth a separate visit for sure. 5 stars for comfort and service.
