Viator to Monte Albán was excellent

Viator was incredibly professional. Easy online booking followed by email and text confirmations. Detailed information to prepare for the trip. Timely pick up and journey to the site. While COVID protocols are limiting entrance at Monte Albán - thereby requiring early arrival and waiting at the site before they opened - our guide made it smooth and easy. Monte Albán itself was amazing. Highly recommend this visit and this tour company.

Monte Alban is a Must See - - But Probably Not With Viator

Monte Alban was awesome and not to be missed. But Viator (who I have used on several occasions and very much enjoyed) messed up on this tour. We were supposed to be picked up at 7:15 am IN THE LOBBY OF THE HOTEL QUINTA REAL. That is exactly how Viator described the departure point. Also, we were staying at the Quinta Real so we were a happy pair. At 7:45, after waiting one half hour, we were approached by a tour person. The coach was around the corner, presumably had arrived on time, and was nearly full. We weren't even able to sit together. Visiting Monte Alban is not easy because you have to ge there early in order to guarantee admission and that means waiting on the coach for 2 hours until the site opens. But that is not Viator's fault. On the return trip, I assumed the dropoff point would also be the Qunta Real but that is not what happened. The coach made several stops along the way further from the city center to let people off at their hotels. The traffic was near gridlock once we got back to Oaxaca. We were the last people to be dropped off almost an hour past the time they told us we could expect to be dropped off. Monte Alban was five stars; Viator was two stars at best.

The tour was great, we got picked up at our Airbnb even though we weren’t right in the centro. Our guide, Jorge, was awesome! We felt the tour was the right amount of time, not too long or too short and we were dropped off before 2 to enjoy the rest of our day.

Great tour (but a 2 & 1/2 hour wait to enter)

Our Zapotec tour guide was awesome-super knowledgeable and clearly cared about the ruins. The ruins were phenomenal. But 4 stars because this company really should let people know that they’re going to be waiting for 2 and half hours to enter the ruins because of Covid crowd restrictions. You arrive at 7:30 and enter at the earliest at 10. This may be old fashioned but I would have brought a book (and a coffee) if I had known. Recommend putting this info on your site.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and was a great speaker. She kept us engaged. We were very accommodated in that we received way more on the tour than expected. She also took care to do tour in both English and Spanish, and picked us up/dropped us off at our desired location. I am in great awe of Monte Alban and Oaxaca. Book this tour!

If you’re looking for a tour guide, Antonio is your man. He is extremely polite, knowledgeable, and professional. You can tell his heart is in this. He sincerely loves his culture and it’s evident through his sharing of local history. He is flawless in transitioning between his English and Spanish to accommodate all persons on his tours. He loves to answer questions.
