Chapultepec started as a retreat for Aztec rulers before it was partially torn down and rebuilt into the palace of Emperor Maximilian of Habsburg. It then turned into the residence for Mexico’s presidents before most of the castle was converted into the National History Museum.

Follow your guide along marble staircases, peer into royal apartments, and admire the state carriages of Emperor Maximilian and Benito Juárez. Pass murals of battles painted by famous artists, including José Clemente Orozco and John O'Gorman, as well as the sword wielded by independence fighter José María Morelos.

As you explore the 12 halls, learn about the country’s history, from the pre-Columbian period through Spanish colonialism, to Mexico’s revolution and its independence.

Then, enjoy a lunch break at a nearby location offering traditional dishes like chapatas and chilaquiles, sandwiches, salads, along with tea and coffee (own expense).
 Next, head to Mexico City’s most visited museum, the National Museum of Anthropology, also part of Chapultepec Park. Follow your guide on a tour of some of the most impressive pre-Columbian and Mexican artifacts, including Olmec carved heads and the Aztec Stone of the Sun.

The Anthropology museum has free tours every two hours, there's no need to purchase that, but I did enjoy the Chapultepec tour. If I did this again I would separate these tours. I felt too rushed at the Chapultepec castle

The Guide, Antonio was very good. We knew of the long climb up to the Castle, from the Museum so we booked the tour that included a tram-type transportation up the hill. We were extremely disappointed that the ride up had been cancelled with no notice. In fact, Antonio said that the tram ride up did not exist! FALSE ADVERTISING!

Too much at once and not engaging

Do not do this combination tour. Each segment (ie the castle and museum) is so short that you don’t really get to experience either one. It’s just too much in one tour, and you don’t really get more than a very light taste for a huge time outlay. Additionally the content really wasn’t very interesting or engaging (I don’t fault the tour guide for this). Do yourself a favor, and do the castle and the museum anthropology separately tours.

My tour guide changed the time of my tour the day before but only emailed and never updated the itinerary on the website. I showed up at the original time after verifying that morning all tines/locations were correct. I missed my tour and they refused to give me a refund.
