Recommendation - NOT!

This tour was canceled by the operator. But Viator still sent me tickets and charged me for the tour. I would never use Viator again and recommend that you don’t either

ARRIVE EARLY TO ALLOW TIME TO PARK AND FIGURE OUT WHERE TO GET TICKETS AND LINE UP.
Michael_C
, May 2022
Recommend arriving early. Company needs to have staff available where line forms to direct passengers on where to go to get tickets and where to line up. Passengers should not be left to figure out what to do or seek advice from other passengers. Recommend coming during height of whale watching season. May was not a very active period for whale watching and company should have offered discounted prices knowing this info.

Our timing was not good....

Our timing was not good. We came to Maui at the very end of the whale season. If we can come again, we’ll come earlier.

No Whales Seen
Amy_N
, May 2022
Unfortunately, we did not see any whales on our tour. The crew was very friendly and informative. They said this was the first tour where no whales had been spotted. We enjoyed the boat ride. We called to see if we could get on another tour before we had to leave the island but no tours were available. We did get reimbursed for our tickets.

The ONLY whale watching tour you should go on

This was the highlight of our trip to Maui. We knew it was late in the season and the chances of seeing any whales were slim. The captain and crew were very knowledgeable about the whales. With the end of season in mind it did take a while before we saw any whales - but they didn't disappoint and we saw a lot of activity. The crew said it had been several days since they had seen that amount of activity and they were very excited, dancing and cheering when the whales appeared. It was so wonderful to see how much the captain and crew care about the whales and their habitats. We will be back on future trips. Highly recommend.

A Whale of a Time
Isa_A
, May 2022
Well worth it! The staff advised us of the activities of the whales, behavior and what to look for as we launched out. Looking for promising signs, the boat was brought in towards frisky trios (the best for viewing) with enough force and target that the captain could shut off the motors and drift towards the whales, thereby keeping the whales safe and at ease. We had whales swimming around us, under the boat, popping up alongside the boat to look at us and jumping up over the waves doing their thing. Even with a full ship to maneuver around on deck, everyone got to see plenty of whales up close. My only problem was my cell phone ran out of space from all the video I took!

Worth the wait

Due to the late whale watching season, we were hopeful to see at least one. When someone saw a whale blow and we were able to come alongside a mother and calf! It made our day. Then we found out there were other whales not far away so we left to find them and was not disappointed. The whales flapped their fins and came up many times! It was a wonderful sight. Had an awesome experience.

We had a great time! Captain was hoping that we would get to see some whales. Two mama’s and two calves with a few suitors competing for attention. One of the calves showed out by breaching several times. Def recommend and would do it again if I get the chance.

Our captain was informational and friendly! Even though it was the end of the season, we got to see quite a good amount of whales!

Wonderful experience, costs more through this site

Best experience I’ve ever had in Maui and possibly anywhere. Keep in mind that there was a lot of luck involved with finding such an active group (the crew certainly helped too). The downside is that you pay $20 extra per person by booking through this site despite the site “guaranteeing” the lowest price. Lahaina Cruise Company charges less to book direct (this site also won’t tell you the company until you pay)

No whales.

Would have been ok if we actually got to see anything, let alone whales. It was unfortunately a big fat zero. We knew it was risky doing this the last week in April but communications ahead of time assured us we would be able to view whales. Not so. No offer for a voucher as advertised.

Saw the whales!

The captain’s comments regarding whales were great. We found some, even late in the season. The size of the ship provided nice stability, but also made it a little harder to see the whales. It was really a very nice trip.

The captain and crew were AWESOME!! Captain was very informative about the whales and spinner dolphins!! The dolphins were a special treat jumping and spinning!! We were very lucky to see the whales at this time! Most had migrated already by now BUT the captain got us right there for them to show off for us!!
