Greet your guide at Plaza de la Villa, located in the heart of the city. Head first to a local market and browse stalls bursting with fresh produce, stacks of cured meat, and creamy cheese, and listen as you guide offers insight into the ingredients. Hear about the origin of tapas and try some tasty tidbits from the food stalls.

Continue to a tavern that dates back to the 19th century. Sip a glass of wine or an aperitif, complemented by another Spanish specialty. Afterward, stroll through the streets of Madrid’s literary district and learn about the area's former residents, including tales of Miguel de Cervantes, before joining locals in a popular bar for another tapas dish.

Then visit a rustic restaurant dedicated to serving traditional Adalusian food, and sample cheeses and cured meats with wine or soft drinks.

End your tour in the cosmopolitan neighborhood of Lavapiés, replete with restaurants. Pass African eateries, Indian cafes, and more on your way to the final food spot, one of Madrid’s oldest taverns. Savor your last dish before bidding your guide and group farewell.

Mercado San Miguel
We will then head towards Mercado de San Miguel, the first gourmet market in all of Spain, for the first of many food tastings. Here we’ll start with an aperitivo, what else?! We’ll try traditional vermouth and we’ll taste some of Spain’s most succulent olives too. Spain is a well-known cheese producing nation, offering the world such cheesy delights as manchego, mahonand idizabal. We’ll try some delicious Spanish cheese, alongsidea glass of wine of course at one of the best cheese stalls in the market.

La Latina
Next, we’ll head to the pulsating barrio of La Latina to explore its narrow lanes and fascinating history. This neighbourhood is ultra trendy right now and is popular with locals for its vibrant food and drink scene. Plaza Mayor
Our next stop is Plaza Mayor where we'll chat about the city’s history and food culture. We will try the iconic bocadillo de calamares, the famous sandwich of the city. To wash it down, we’ll try some local beer too! We’ll also try some of Madrid’s most famous croquettes at a heritage tavern that was originally built in 1860 and only specializes in these special potato treats.

Stop At:
Puerta del Sol
After that, we’ll cross Puerta del Sol, one of the most iconic spots of Madrid and finish our tapas adventure with a local dessert and sweet wine in yet another historic location. This joint has been run by the same family for over 100 years, serving a traditional Spanish dessert that might just remind you of something familiar. Once you’ve finished your dessert, your guide will take you back to Puerta del Sol, where they can help you out with directions back to your accommodation or ideas on where to go next!

Wonderful guide and delicious food
, Nov 2019
This tour was great! Our guide Daniela was super informative. We got to have such great local foods and drinks. She even gave us suggestions of places to try during our stay. Definitely recommend.
Best tapas and wine plus a little bit of Madrid history
, Jul 2019
We learned a lot about tapas snd local food; we tried some signature dishes as well as local wines and other drinks. Our host, Carolina from Urban Adventures, added some fascinating local history and gave us some solid tips on where to eat, what to drink and where the locals go. Great value and an excellent thing to get over the jetlag. Thanks fora fun night Carolina!
Wonderful experience!

The food, the wine and the guide were all terrific. They combined to make our tapas tour our best experience in Madrid. Thank you, Danielle!
Minus the food-a good tour

Our host was awesome! Informative, enthusiastic, and fun. But the food was just awful.I have been on many of these tours in different cities and they have all been great across the board with wonderful food but this was, well, an unfortunate exception. Olives that I couldn't wait to get rid of, mushy, tasteless croquettes, and calamari sandwiches that were bland and just icky.

My husband and I took this tour a few nights ago. It was our first night in Madrid, and we loved the tour. Our tour guide Daniella was excellent! In addition to teaching us about the local tapas and drinks, she showed us a lot of interesting and off the beaten path places and told us lots of interesting info about Madrid. There was more food and drink on the tour than you could possibly eat or drink. No one on our tour could finish it all. I highly recommend that you do this tour.

Definitely do this tour one of your first evenings in Madrid! You'll learn so much, find the best spots to eat and where not to eat and learn all the local tapas and drinks. Our tour guide, Daniela 'Nicole!' lol was very knowledgable, funny and a great tour guide. She knew the city well, took time to get to know each of us and did an overall great job. Thanks Daniela!

The tour was awesome. The tapas were crazy good. My 10 year old boy loved it too. The chocolate place we went to we believe was featured in Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix which was awesome!!! Even if you don't drink alcohol, you will still enjoy the delicious tapas. I am leaving this review of my own free will because I feel as though this tour was exceptional. A truly authentic tapas experience!!!

We shared a wonderful evening sampling tapas and drink at a variety of locations with Andrea our guide of Urban Adventure. Only my husband and I were on this particular tour so we felt as if we were sharing the evening with a friend. We had no trouble rescheduling our tour because we were delayed arriving in Madrid. We highly recommend the tour. Thank you Urban Adventure for making our first night in Madrid extra special.

Our guide, Cecelia, was fantastic. Her knowledge of the foods, wines and history of Spain were vast. We went to San Miguel market for amazing wines, olives and cheeses and terrific tapas bars and learned much about the history and regional aspects of Spain. Truely an excellent tour. Thanks Cecelia!
