Departure Time

8:00 AM
Escape the bustle of Florence for the day to explore the enchanting landscapes, villages and history of Tuscany. After pickup at your Florence hotel in the morning, travel through the gorgeous countryside characterized by vineyards, rolling hills and olive groves to arrive at the medieval city of Siena. Explore highlights of the UNESCO World Heritage–listed city center, including museums, the cathedral, and the Piazza del Campo, home to the famous Palio horse race.

Continue on to the walled hilltop village of Monteriggioni, a small gem of a town with a rich history. Take in wonderful views of the surrounding countryside and learn how Monteriggioni served as an important defensive fortification during conflicts between Siena and Florence during the Middle Ages.

Also boasting spectacular views from its hilltop location is the UNESCO-listed town of San Gimignano, also known as the ‘Town of Fine Towers.’ Admire well-preserved examples of Gothic and Romanesque architecture and the dozen or so surviving towers that make for a captivating skyline. Finally, venture into the world-famous wine region of Chianti to the small Etruscan town of Castellina, home to an impressive 15th-century fortress.

Throughout the day, enjoy leisure time at all the towns for strolling, shopping and dining, and let your private driver know if there any special stops you’d like to make. A visit to a Chianti vineyard for wine tasting can be arranged with advance notice. The full day concludes with drop-off back at your Florence accommodation.
