Itinerary
Pass By:
Las Vegas
Passengers will meet their pilot and crew approximately 90 minutes prior to sunrise and be transported to their launch location. While that does make for an early morning, launching in a hot air balloon while the morning sun simultaneously continues to make its way above the peaks of the desert mountains, is an experience like none other!
Stop At:
Pahrump
Guests will be transported from the Vegas Balloon Rides check-in office to the launch field in Pahrump, just an hour west of the Las Vegas Strip. During your flight, which lasts approximately 45-60 minutes, you will have a spectacular birds eye view of the Spring and Nopah Mountain Ranges, expansive and breathtaking views of Death Valley, and far-reaching sights into Eastern California. As you drift silently and peacefully over the countryside, you can watch for desert wildlife, take that all-important selfie, and talk with envious onlookers down below. Upon landing, passengers participate in a traditional Champagne toast, hear the story of how hot air ballooning began, and how it led to modern day aviation as we know it. Hot air ballooning is truly a bucket list item, and something you must do during your visit to Las Vegas. Get away from the hustle and bustle of the Strip and join us on a journey that will simply take your breath away!

It was a great...

It was a great experience. Keep in mind that it is not a sunrise flight per se but it is around that time. And it does not go over the canyon, it is over a small town outside of Vegas, but it does have a spectacular view.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. We really enjoyed having you onboard with us! You are right, we do not fly at what is considered "civil twilight" (a period of time before sunrise when the sun is about 6 degrees below the horizon) due to the fact that we do not have lights on our aircraft, like an airplane or helicopter. We have to follow those FAA rules and regulations! We do, however, get to enjoy watching the sun continue to rise over the Mojave desert and provide us with spectacular views. Each flight is different, but generally you will see the Spring and Nopah Mountain Ranges, Death Valley, and sights into Eastern California.

Up, Up and Away

Initially, we were booked for one day(my husband’s birthday), but Mother Nature forced us to have to rebook for the next day. The company communicated well about the possibility and the next steps, which I appreciated. However, once we were able to ride, it was UP from there. Our pilot, Jeff from France, was AMAZING and funny! The entire team was wonderful and customer focused! Whew who knew the amount of work these guys put into ensuring we have the experience of a lifetime!! Hats off to the entire crew! The views were superb, despite it being a very cold morning. And yes, there is champagne to celebrate your successful flight at the end! Thanks again for our Up, Up and away experience!

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review, and thank you for understanding that sometimes Mother Nature has other plans for our adventures. We love hearing appreciation for our crew and pilots because you are right, they do a lot of work to ensure you have a safe and memorable experience!

Not what we were expecting
Kiandre_B
, Jan 2021
Very difficult to rate this. It was a great balloon ride, however, it was not at all what we were expecting. Was it good, yes! However, we expected a Vegas, sunrise, balloon ride. It was only one of the three of those. It was a balloon ride, a very good one. It was not a Vegas balloon ride. It was also not at sunrise, despite meeting the shuttle at 4:15am. The ride was a loooong drive away from Vegas, on the other side of the mountain. That's all good, if that is what you are expecting. We were expecting to see the Vegas sights from a balloon. We saw desert. We were expecting to see the sunrise from the balloon. What we saw was the sunrise from the ground as they were setting it all up. It would have been the same ride anytime of the day. The pilot of the balloon was fantastic. Very informative and entertaining. He is obviously a skilled balloon pilot. He made the trip great. We opted for the shuttle service to and from the hotel. This was a huge disappointment. We were the first to be picked up and the last to be dropped off. We were told to expect 4 to 4 1/2 hours for the entire experience. It was well over six hours which cost us checking out of our hotel on time. Of the over six hours, 45 minutes were spent in the balloon, the rest of the time was spent in a very run down shuttle bus. The ride back from the ballooning destination took us back to the office. In the shuttle van was us, a group of three and a single individual. The single individual wasn't planning on shuttle service but was upsold when we got back to the office for $10. So instead of us getting back to our hotel, she was the first dropped off, in the exact opposite direction of our hotel, then the group of three and finally us. From the time we got back to the office, to getting dropped off at our hotel (less than a mile away), it took 45 minutes. We figured if we were the first to be picked up, we would be the first to be dropped off. Instead, we got bonus time in the shuttle van. We even got to wait to leave one of the drop offs while the shuttle driver stood outside of the van replying to his text messages. What we pictured was a peaceful sunrise morning balloon ride over Las Vegas. What we got was a very long period of time in the back of a shuttle bus with a brief break getting to ride in a balloon. Had this been the expectation, we probably still would have done it, and been happy with it. However, when the expectation was set and that was not what we got, honestly, it was disappointing. You can't see Vegas from that far away, you can't see the sunrise when it's already up. A Vegas vacation is not where I get up at 3:30am without a good reason. Seeing the sunrise from that vantage point would have been a good reason. We were told in the van on the way out to the site that they aren't even allowed to take off until after sunrise anyways. If you plan on going, set a realistic expectation and make your choice based on full research and definitely, don't utilize their shuttle service. This review is based on the entire experience. The balloon ride itself and the pilot were wonderful. Breaking down the review would have been 5 stars for the flight, 1 star for the rest.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. We sincerely apologize that your experience was not all you expected it to be. It is times like these that we really take your feedback to heart to see where any improvements can be made. We have undergone a recent change in ownership and management. Therefore, issues like you described are being addressed and corrected accordingly. We have found on a few occasions that the online descriptions of our adventures were not quite up to par with how we fly the area. We have taken great strides to ensure the language was updated accordingly with any "dot com" that sells our flights. Due to the close proximity of the airport to the Strip itself and the surrounding suburban areas of Las Vegas, the FAA restricted hot air ballooning in the county where Las Vegas is located. Therefore, we must fly further out than Las Vegas; however, we have more freedom for exploration in the flight. We are able to reach higher altitudes which provide stunning and expansive views of the Spring and Nopah Mountain Ranges, Death Valley, and sights into Eastern California. We hope the remainder of your stay in Las Vegas was amazing and we hope that you consider joining us again in flight in the future to see how we have improved!
