Meet a driver at a central location in Inverness, then board a top of the range, 16-seat Mercedes mini-coach for the 70-mile (112-km) trip to Eilean Donan Castle. Drive past the famous Loch Ness—home of the legendary monster—and pause for a photo opportunity before arriving at the castle. Enjoy ample time to visit the castle, which dominates a tiny, tidal island at the confluence of three lochs (entrance fees own expense, roughly £7.50).

From Eilean Donan, continue to the Isle of Skye over the Skye Bridge, which commands sweeping views of the Inner Hebrides. Drive into the mountainous heart of the island, then stretch your legs at the harbor town of Portree, where you have a break for lunch.

The afternoon is all about exploring the superb Trotternish Peninsula, visiting a series of the area’s scenic highlights, including The Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock, and the Quiraing, a landslide on the eastern side of Meall na Suiramach.

Take the return trip to the mainland, passing the majestic Glen Shiel, Loch Clunie, and the Great Glen along the way. Conclude the tour at the original departure point in Inverness.

Brilliant trip

Brilliant day. Minibus was immaculate and very comfy. Seana was a brilliant guide who was very professional and an excellent driver on the very small roads. Her knowledge of the places we visited and the stories/historical facts she told us was really good. I would highly recommend this tour and tour company.

This day was beautiful and history-filled time with Helen, our charming tour guide! Helen's timing, from strategic stops along the way to periodic historic commentaries and occasional soft music in between, was perfect in execution. Helen is a skilled guide and very enjoyable company! The Isle of Skye came to life, replete with sunshine, rain showers and rainbows to highlight the stark beauty of the island. Very well worth the full day of sightseeing! Many thanks for this wonderful tour, Helen!

This was my second trip to the Highlands and hands down this was the best. Our driver and guide Paul is a star. He has amazing stories about the Highlands to share which was a bonus. He shared so much about the flora and fauna which was both fascinating and informative. Paul was patient and fun- a blend difficult to find. We are coming back to Inverness again to explore the western side with Paul. Everything was very well planned and organised and Paul was ever so sweet to accept our request of doing a quick pit stop to see the Highland cows!Would love to explore Scotland with Rabbies Tours again. They deserve a hundred stars and I rate them 100/10!!

What a really enjoyable trip. It was 12 hours and I thought OMG it’s going to be a long day but our driver/guide Gill made it so interesting the time just flew by! She was knowledgeable about the area as well as the history and a brilliant driver too. Made time for us to get some breathtaking pictures. I would recommend this trip and if you managed to bag Gill as your driver, you’re onto a winner!! Thank you Rabbies and thank you Gill.

Unforgettable! Crossing The Highlands from east coast to the west was a great experience and an opportunity to feel the scenes from Braveheart and Highlander. Paul our driver and guide is a living legend! We admire him for the courage and determination facing the battle of his life. Wish you all the best Paulie!
