A Unique Experience
, Jan 2022
We went kayaking with David, Miguel, and Jordan. They were great and very informative. I would like to personally mention and thank Jordan who helped us when we couldn't figure out how to steer our Kayak! It's a unique experience! The stars were amazing as well

We had and awesome time, I've never kayak before so it was an awesome adventure for me. The view of the water and sky were so beautiful and amazing. The tour team were awesome and made sure everyone was safe.
Awesome Guides

Awesome instructors. Awesome guides. All very kind, helpful, supportive, knowledgeable. We weren’t particularly nervous, but they did a great job preparing everyone and keeping everyone safe and then helped understand the amazing things we were seeing. They just don’t really give advance directions about valuables and attire. For clothes: be prepared to get wet. You’re fine not being in a swimsuit as long as you don’t mind the splashes from the oars but you’ll get a bit wet. Valuables: you can leave them with the host and the company car to be secured during the trip as they warn that if anything fallas from your kayak it will be lost in the darkness and dark water; we left everything in our parked and locked car and just left our car key in their storage box.
Great trip!
, Jan 2022
The tour guides were great and very helpful. It's a nice trip. You start out getting into the boats, starting to kayak out in a single file line in the bay and then start going through the mangrove trees. The water was pretty shallow. Once you get through the mangrove trees, you get out to the bay/lagoon where if you move your hand/paddle back and forth in the water, you can see the bioluminescent plankton. The darker the better. The guides also point out different constellations which was nice. On the way back through the mangroves, you could see more of the plankton because it was a little darker. If you're a solo traveler, they'll pair you up with someone else. Be ready to paddle for about 2 hours. Your butt and feet will get pretty wet. It's a fun time!
Directions were...
, Jan 2022
Directions were inaccurate, we called the tour operator 3 times with no response, weren’t able to even go because we couldn’t find the location and missed the time. Wasted $400 for absolutely nothing because we obviously weren’t going to be refunded and it costs $70 one way from San Juan to this location. Very disappointed because that is why we came to Puerto Rico.
Stars in the water
, Dec 2021
It was such a cool experience ! Kayaking through the mangroves was like nothing I’ve ever done before and I’ve kayaked a couple times before. Sitting in the bay, under the stars and seeing the sparkle in the water was beautiful.

Bio bay is Lit!
, Dec 2021
Great tour guides. David, Miguel, Noel and Francisco. They even contacted me before the tour to let me know that they would be refunding us $10 per person because the luminescence was not very bright. We still went and loved it. We got to spend time exploring for a few minutes on our own. And our group stayed longer than the other tours, so we were the only group on the bay. Which reduced the light pollution. It was awesome seeing the bioluminescence last night! I would recommend it! Even kayaking through the mangrove channel was very cool! Great tour and great tour guides.
Great time - even with low bioluminescence
, Dec 2021
Even with just a "sparkle" of bioluminescence, the trip was amazing. So fun to kayak in the dark between the mangroves, by the small light of the kayaks in front of you. Seeing iguanas in the trees, listening to the sounds of the mangroves, seeing the stars. All around great time. And even just "sparkling" water is magical!
Natural wonder!
, Nov 2021
We loved the kayaking through the canal, listening to all the night sounds and viewing the amazing stars. Although we were told in advance the bioluminescence wasn’t very good, the journey was well worth the trip. Loved it!
Do it, fam! They’ll take good care of you.

We had a great experience on the Bio Bay tour with Kayak Puerto Rico! We were running a little late, so they called us to check-in and then helped us hustle out so we didn’t miss our group. The guides were friendly and funny and kept us safe. They also contacted us a day early to let us know the visibility was low and gave us the option to reschedule or cancel with a full refund. They even gave us a discount when we decided to go ahead with the tour on the low visibility night. Overall we had a wonderful time and were impressed with their professionalism.
