We paid $45 online to go to Hilton Playa del Carmen from airport. Once we were in the car the company texted me to say we owe an additional $38 because it was farther than they initially thought. First, I had given them the address of our hotel when I booked. Second, I actually agree that the ride should have been about $83 BUT they should have communicated that way before we were halfway there. I was getting texts from the company and they were also messaging our driver to make sure we paid him the difference in cash. They tried to get me to sign up for a $65 ride for the way back but we didn't do it. The driver himself was very nice and helped with our bags and provided an umbrella since it was raining.
Thanks for your comments, we were trying to reach you prior arrival to solve the issue, but there was no answer from you until we contacted you, the original reservation was made to go to Cancún Hotel zone, but your resort as you know now.. It's located in Playa del Carmen, that is the reason of the $38 balance.
I have nothing but good things to say about Viator. As soon as we landed I received text letting us know they were waiting on us and where to meet them. Walked straight out of the airport past all of the solicitors to the guy holding a sign with our name on it. At that time he took our luggage and loaded it into the trunk and offered us a cold beverage. It was a quick trip to our resort. They were right on time when it came to our return trip back to the airport with the same professionalism. The he price was very affordable for the peace of mind that they provide. The drivers were very pleasant and offered great conversation with helpful tips to make our stay the best possible.
Waited over 30 min for driver to arrive and pickup from the airport on a non-busy low evening. Literally everyone else on the plane left and it was just me and the locals after awhile. Guy waiting with me made a hard sell 5 times to book a return trip but had no response when I questioned the extensive delay.
Viator chooses vetted local vendors and we’ve never been disappointed by their choices. Upon arrival in the madness of Cancun airport, like a bright penny, there was Viator’s local rep, (Unittravel) with my name on a sign! We’d followed their directions to ignore the hawkers inside the terminal and as soon as we came out the door, he was waiting and whisked us away in a cool comfortable van. Marco was wonderful. On the return, the driver arrived precisely on time and was accommodating to our every need. I’m only sorry I forgot to write down his name. Yep, once again, Viator came through! Gracias!
