Riders are matched with horses based on experience level; riders of all levels can be accommodated. Horses at Rancho Bonanza have been rescued, rehabilitated, and retrained.

Spend the next portion of the tour exploring the jungle, observing and learning about the local flora and fauna as you travel. You also learn about the local practice of making bubblegum from materials found in the peninsula's forest. Once you reach a natural cenote, or limestone sinkhole, dismount for a swim in the cool water. Towels are provided for you, but please bring your swimsuit if you plan on swimming.

Had an amazing experience!! Alma was extremely welcoming and knowledgeable about more than just the horses! She explained a lot about the culture and we were able to see multiple cenotes and also swim in the large one! We also were able to try organic gum and fresh made honey from her bee hives!! Absolutely would recommend this !!!

Absolutely wonderful excursion. Alma and the other staff are very knowledgeable, caring and kind with the animals. It is clear they are well taken care of and loved. Horses were gentle and well trained. Cenote was a nice refreshing cool off at the end of a hot and sunny afternoon ride. Bring mosquito spray!

Amazing Excursion!!!

We were looking for a short, but fun excursion and this did not disappoint!!! We got to Rancho Bonanza and were met by Luis and Alma. Both incredibly friendly. The horses, Tomato and Rosita were friendly, well maintained, and well behaved. The ranch also has goats, donkeys, pigs, and peacocks. We got to feed the donkeys while taking a tour of the small ranch. While on horseback, Alma told us all about the history, the fruits, the jungle, and the animals. Luis, our photographer, took a ton of pictures. After the horseback ride, we jumped into the cenote and swam around. It was gorgeous and so clear. I can’t say enough wonderful things about this excursion. It’s perfect if you’re looking for something relatively short. Be warned, you’re in the jungle so WEAR BUG SPRAY and light clothing. I wish I had known earlier that mosquitos are attracted to dark clothing. I can’t stress enough - wear light clothing and lots of bug spray. This won’t disappoint.
