Arcachon Bay Half-Day Trip (morning)Get picked up near Place des Quinconces in the center of Bordeaux in a climate-controlled minivan to begin the 45-minute drive to the Bay of Arcachon. During the trip, enjoy the view as you learn about the region from your knowledgeable guide.

Your first stop a the Bay of Arcachon is Pyla Dune (Dune du Pyla), Europe's largest sand dune. Join your guide for an invigorating hike to the top, affording you excellent views over the bay, the Atlantic Ocean and the Landes Forest.

Descend the dune and climb back into the minivan for a driving tour of some of the charming bay-front towns, followed by a visit to one of the famous local oyster farms. There, meet an oyster farmer to hear about the traditional cultivation methods they still use today while you sample a half-dozen fresh Arcachon oysters. Wash it down with some white wine.

Return to Bordeaux for a picnic lunch with the group before the start of the afternoon tour.

Médoc Wine Tour (afternoon)After an enjoyable lunch, get back into the minivan for the scenic drive along what's known as the Château Route in the Médoc wine region. Pass famous wine châteaux like Mouton-Rothschild, Latour or Margaux, and enjoy a few stops en route for photos as you learn more about Bordeaux wine from your guide.

Stop at the first of two winery visits of the afternoon at a family-run château for a tour of the vineyard, traditional vat room and cellar. Learn what it takes to properly taste wine and try your new skills as you taste some of the château's wines.

The next stop is one of the most distinguished classified growth châteaux in the region. Though the precise château you visit will vary depending on the day, it may include Lagrange, Siran, Chasse-Spleen, Gruaud-Larose, Lascombes or Lamarque. At the second château, see both the vineyards and vat room as you hear about what it takes to make these esteemed wines. Sample the estate's wines with some traditional French hors d'oeuvres such as freshly baked bread, cured meats and local cheeses.

Return to Bordeaux in the evening.

The day was filled with exceptional experiences from seeing the Pilat Dune where coffee was served to the group on the dune to lunching in the premises of Bordovino with nice wine to visiting the nice winery and tasting wine accompanied with cheese, sausages and chocolate. We had an amazing girl who accompanied us all day. This tour was worth every penny we paid.

Warmly welcomed by Vincent, we travelled to the Pilat Sand dune which was a delightful surprise, much more interesting than I expected. On to oyster tasting at Arcechon, a quaint, rustic seaside village; beautiful oysters. Back to Bordeaux for a picnic lunch where my dietary requirements were well catered for and off to the Medoc for two wine tastings at different chateaux. A great way to explore the surrounds of Bordeaux with a very hospitable and knowledgeable guide- bravo Vincent!

A great day with a friendly, helpful and informative guide. So sorry as I cannot remember his name but he was young and previously lived in Paris. The size of the group and vehicle were also good. The sand dunes were amazing with stunning views of the sea and the forest at the top. Be prepared for a well worth climb up the dunes. I did it fine at the age of 68! Then we drove to the oyster farms and had a delicious lunch of oysters outdoors overlooking the boats and sea - magic! The afternoon was also most informative and pleasant . I learnt a lot of new facts about wine making and enjoyed sampling some good wines! In all, a wonderful day in which you also saw much of the surrounding scenery around Bordeaux without having to drive yourself!

It was a nice combination of sand, oysters and wine. First part was very good, nice host. Lunch/picnic was not what I have expected. A baguette and a glass of wine in a crowded kitchen where I was put on a chair with a little space on a table. Second half, the wine in Medoc, was dissapointing because I have chosen an english tour, but we were three which spoke english and five french, so I felt that it was a lot waste of time since they had to do all in two languages.

The tour hardly offered any commentary during the hours of transportation which was a waste of our time. You pay for transfers and brief tours by 2 château operators. Tasting was ok but did not include premium wines we tasted at similarly priced tours. The baguette lunch was embarrassingly cheap.

Amazing experience climbing the sand dune. View at the top was spectacular and we were even rewarded with a glass of wine. Both tour guides were knowledgeable and very approachable. Also enjoyed our time at the different wineries.. Very educational trip and the food platter offered along with the wine tasting during the last stop was delicious. Highly recommended.

Tour gudes were great with good English. Dune du Pila was a humbling climb with the most gorgeous views over the Arcachon basin and the Atlantic. Enjoyed oysters at an ancient fishing harbor. You don't really see Arcachon itself but the other sites were great. Back into Bordeaux to pick up more people to go to the Medoc wine tours which were lovely. A lot of driving and picnic lunch in their office was mediocre and sounded more inviting than it actually was

We met our guide, Stephane, at the Bordovino office in Bordeaux and started our adventure. Our small group of eight travelers quickly bonded and had a delightful day. The dune climb was a bit challenging but we were rewarded with a spectacular view and a refreshment break of fresh oysters and a crisp, dry white wine. After lunch, Stephane, switched our focus to wine tastings at Chateau Chasse Spleen and Chateau Gruaud La Rose, the latter of which was a gorgeous property. Stephane was well versed in his extensive knowledge of wines and the rich history of the region. He also helped us assemble a selection of wines for shipment back to the States. In addition to the wines we purchased at the Chateaux, Bordovino has a large selection available at their office and, if you are shipping out of the area, you can avoid the value added tax. A great day overall!

The trip was fantastic value for money and a great way of exploring the region. The trip to the Dune du Pilat was definitely a highlight and the view was amazing. The trip to Medoc in the afternoon provided a great introduction to wine making and the guides were very knowledgeable and very keen to answer questions.

We loved the experience and content. Kevin was a great tour guide and we highly recommend him. Only recommendation relates to the van - morning van was good, but we got changed in the afternoon to a van that did not have A/C in the back and it was very hot (and after some wine and with twisty roads it was not good). Also, if the guide could have their commentary amplified when in the van - hard to impossible to hear in the back. Overall, good day - would have been a 5 star if we had A/C in the afternoon van.
