Ask the guide how to come back to the Tourist Office; the end of the tour changes with the guide, the weather, it is not set.

Begin your walking tour in central Bordeaux. Meet your informative guide and set off to explore the elegant streets as you learn about the city’s history and culture. Your precise route may vary depending on the weather and number of people in your group, but your guide will showcase as many of the city’s landmarks as possible.

Make your way to the magnificent Monument aux Girondins, a soaring fountain and column that celebrates the Girondists, a group of 18th-century, conservative National Assembly deputies executed in 1793 for their counter-revolutionary activities during the French Revolution.

Crane your neck to see the winged Statue of Liberty that crowns the column, and then stroll along the pretty banks of the Garonne River. Soak up the river views and pause at the Place de la Bourse, one of Bordeaux’s most recognizable squares. Created by Louis XV’s chief architect Ange-Jacques Gabriel in the 18th century, this impressive expanse is home to the handsome Stock Exchange (Bourse), and a the beautiful fountain of the three graces.

Continue to the Rue Sainte-Catherine, the traffic-free avenue that ranks as one of Europe’s longest pedestrianized thoroughfares. Saunter past the chic shops and restaurants that frame this street, and stop at the Place de la Comédie.

Pose for photos in front of the Grand-Théâtre and discover how it was once the location of a Roman temple. Pose for photos outside the sweeping, columned portico of the Grand Théâtre, a stunning neoclassical building that has become a symbol of the city. As admire the perfectly proportioned façade, hear how the theater was completed in 1780 and stands as a monument to the wealth of Bordeaux's emerging bourgeoisie at the time.

Finish your tour back at the start point and bid goodbye to your guide, who will be happy to offer tips if you wish to continue exploring Bordeaux independently.

Excellent Tour

An excellent informative tour of a beautiful city. Our tour guide Bruno was really wonderful and helped us appreciate the history and culture of bordeaux.
An overview of Bordeaux
, Apr 2022
Veronique was a knowledgeable and energetic host for our walking tour. Although the day was cold and windy, she kept our attention with historical and cultural facts and figures. The tour was to be in English, but actually alternated between English and French for a mixed group. Sadly, the French speakers received much more detail than we few English speakers. Nonetheless, a very enjoyable and helpful view of Bordeaux. We recommend it!
Not worth the money
, Apr 2022
This tour was booked via Viator but was supplied by the tourist office in Bordeaux. We booked an english speaking tour and we were looking forward to exploring the city as we have done with other walking tours in other countries. Our party consisted of approximately 15 people and the tour guide was french. 1/3 of us were english speaking, the guide spoke in french first and explained she would translate to english at each point in the tour. Initially she did do this, explaining certain historical parts of the town that were of interest. As the tour progressed she spoke less and less english. She was asked questions by us and the other english speaking tourists which she answered quickly, without much detail, and then continued to speak french. Because of the lack of communication the tour was not interesting or easy to follow, this thought was echoed by Canadian lady and an American gentleman. We left the tour 30 minutes early to continue finding places of interest by ourselves, this included the Pey-Berland tower where we were able to climb 120 steps to the top to view the city. This place of interest was not mentioned by the tour guide.

About 2 hours. Time flies with the great tour. Even if you think you saw everything in Bordeaux, still do it!
Terrible service
, Sep 2021
We reached the Tourist office location 20 mins before scheduled departure. There was no one with any sign-board to meet the booked people. I enquired around and was pointed to a gentleman., who asked me to wait saying he will get the bar code scanning machine. He never came back. Then I saw the group starting to walk and I again asked him. He said that since there were only 4 of us (3 from our family) who had opted for the English speaking guide, they will not have a separate group for English. We need to join the the French speaking guide, who will once in a while translate in English. Since it was raining and we did not have a dedicated English speaking guide, we decided to not take the walk.

One of the best city tours
, Sep 2021
This is an excellent tour with a superb guide who told us all about the history of the city and more modern developments such as the fantastic tram system and other recent developments. Our guide was brilliant at switching between French and English, and kept everyone’s interest throughout the 2 hour tour. We learnt about the connection between Bordeaux to England during the early Middle Ages when it was controlled by the English crown following the marriage of Eleanor to Henry.
Don’t bother

An in depth tour on the history of Bordeaux. Walking the streets and listening to our guide on the history of Bordeaux and how it has evolved since the Roman era was very interesting.

Mr Beurrier is a true Raconteur. With humour and colorful expression he delivered stories that kept our attention with delight. He is passionate about his work and it shows. Bravo!!!

On the first morning of our 4 day stop in Bordeaux we took this wonderful walking tour. A great introduction to the city and quite easy thanks to the compactness of the Old center. Well worth the the time and quite affordable.

Carl, our guide, was very knowledgeable and entertaining. It was good to understand Bordeaux's history and 43 years after learning about 'the terror' at school I now finally understand it!

Our guide, Veronique , was very informative. She explained a lot of the history behind the sights. Pointed out places that might be of interest to visit that weren't on the tour. We took her advice and went to some of those places the next day.
Nice walk through downtown Bordeaux

Our wonderful guide Lio met us on time and did the walking tour for about 15 people. Did well, sometimes hard to hear. Covered basic history and buildings and scenery. Is a good orientation to the city, did not have time to visit more than one church or to see the riverfront. Seemed very knowledgeable about the city. Hope her shoulder injury gets repaired successfully! Worth doing the tour.

We enjoyed our walking tour of the city sights of Bordeaux and Bruno was a very interesting, informative and amusing guide (also liked his tip about trying Lillet blanc with a twist of orange though we didn't get to our 4th glass so our credit cards are still safe !!!!!)
