The 13,803-foot (4,207.3-meter) peak of Mauna Kea is Hawaii's highest point, and a popular spot for star-gazing. With this tour, travel up to the volcano summit with your guide, stop for dinner at the Onizuka Astronomy Complex, then arrive at the summit in time to watch the sunset. As dark sets in, enjoy a guided stargazing experience and marvel at the stars and planets using a refractor telescope and razor pointer.

Stefan is a fantastic tour guide! Stefan showed care and thoughtfulness. He was informative and provided time for customer’s needs (bathroom breaks and watching over customers with altitude fatigue), and allowed time to rest, with relaxing music.
His picture taking is stellar! Thanks Stefan for a fantastic experience!!!

It was a memorable night and all the more when our guide, Wes, talked about the Hawaiian history, the constellations, and local tips. Our driver and professional photographer, Mr. Aoki, was very meticulous in his pictures. He put in the effort and would constantly try to capture the best angles and shots. They were a dynamic duo! Mahalo and arigatou!
The only thing I would comment is the meal, which is described as a "light dinner" and consisted of a sandwich per person. Since we didn't get back to the hotel until about 1045pm, the majority of food places are closed which I recommend having a decent size lunch prior to the tour!

Great tour! Shawn was amazing-so friendly and knowledgeable! I would definitely do this tour again. We weren’t aware there was a guarantee to see the sunset at the observatory. It was too cloudy to see the sunset and we got a portion of our money back without even asking. Great experience with a great guide and company!

I would highly recommend this company. They know how to treat you well and prepare. Our tour guide Hiro originally from Japan (bring the traditional tour culture practice to here). The members of the this company know the astronomy very well. The warm sandwiches and hot green tea or coco are well served especially is cold up there. The sunset at the peak and the star gazing are phenomenon.. Next time definitely will join Hiro tour to lava walk
