The Basics

Bonaventure Cemetery is the largest municipal cemetery in Savannah and one of the most beautiful in the world. No trip to the “Hostess City of the South” would be complete without a stroll through this eerily beautiful place. The Bonaventure Historical Society offers free guided tours one weekend per month, but visitors are also free to explore on their own. Among those interred in the cemetery are American songwriter Johnny Mercer, poet Conrad Aiken, and Georgia’s first governor John Treutlen.

Savannah Bonaventure Cemetery Journey
This was my 3rd tour of the Bonaventure Cemetery, 2nd with Shannon Scott's tour company - the 1st of which was with Shannon himself, and this one was with Jessica. Hands down, his tour company is the most informative, and both he and Jessica did a great job of covering various topics, each with a bit different emphasis on some topics. I highly recommend using them any time you come out.

Wormsloe Plantation & Bonaventure Cemetery Tour from Savannah
My Daughter and I really enjoyed this tour. The tour meet all our expectations. A shout out to Dennis one of the best tour guides I have encountered. We also did the Tybee Island Dolphin tour the next day and was happy that Dennis was also our tour guide for that tour. Thank you for two great memorable days of our girls trip.

A treasure

Savannah Bonaventure Cemetery Journey
Our guide Suzanne communicated directions very well. She is passionate about the history of Bonaventure; what I would call delightfully nerdy! It was beastly hot the morning of our tour but she was purposeful to guide us into shady areas. Her knowledge was great and she communicated clearly and with humor. Bonaventure is a treasure of Savannah, beautiful and rich in history of the city. Highly recommend!
