The Basics

The Gaslamp Quarter bustles day and (more so at) night, and exploring the area on a guided walking or Segway tour is a fun way to take in the sights no matter the time of day. The neighborhood is visited on most San Diego city sightseeing tours and is a highlight of San Diego pub crawl tours. Top Gaslamp Quarter sights include the streets lined with historic buildings, some beautifully restored to their 19th-century architectural glory; Horton Plaza Park and its grassy lawns and interactive fountain; an array of boutiques; and the 5-story Westfield Horton Plaza mall set on the district’s eastern border. Along with its many shops and cultural offerings, the district has the city’s highest concentration of bars, nightclubs, and restaurants—making it the No. 1 place to be after dark.

Great time
Such a great time! The staff were very patient and helpful when we asked to use the motor car instead of the scooters due to comfort. Thank you again we enjoyed the tour!

Private Walking Tour San Diego: Little Italy and Gaslamp Quarter
Chris, the tour guide, did a great job! It was fun to learn about the history of the Gaslamp Quarter and Little Italy. Chris was informative and engaging. We stopped at a neighborhood gelato shop in Little Italy at his recommendation and the shop did not disappoint. Very good gelato and coffee drinks!

Very cool experience. Dan was a great guide. I would’ve liked to enter some of the buildings but understandable that that was not an option due to Covid restrictions.

1Hr GPS Self Guided Scooter Tour: Harbor/Gaslamp Quarter
Loved rolling through Little Italy & GasLamp as an introduction to San Diego’s cuisine, history, & modern architecture. The vehicles were pretty fast as well. My wife didn’t enjoy being in traffic but I thought it was extremely fun and informative. There was some difficulty getting back but we were not charged anything extra. All in all, I recommend and would do it again in a larger group next time.

San Diego Gaslamp District Ghost Tour
This tour wasn’t what we originally thought it would be. We thought we would be able to go inside the buildings to feel the energy. However the guide was knowledgeable of the towns history and showed us some building we would have otherwise missed.

San Diego Gaslamp District Ghost Tour
What a fun walk through Down Town San Diego. We learned a lot about some of San Diego's more unusual history, about some of the more famous and also notorious buildings and goings-ons, and our EMF detector turned Red while standing alongside the old City Hall building. Lots of fun, highly recommended.

Great walking tour. San Diego on any Saturday night is crazy busy. Allow ample time to find a place to park your car. The guide was very knowable. Hearing what isa said is a problem because of the crowd. You should be fit to walk at a quick pace at time and walk over curbs.

The guide was super informative and a great story teller! Lots of spooky details! We walked around the gas lamp district for around 45 minutes to 1 hr and it was a great experience!! Sadly in certain areas the bars were SO loud it was hard to hear our guide but she did do her best! I recommend going during the day or a week day since the bars and restaurants were POPPIN to say the least lol.

Family Fun in the Gaslamp

The Gaslamp Quarter isn’t all nightclubs and cocktails—there’s plenty of fun for the whole family, kids included. The Gaslamp Museum at the Davis-Horton House dives into the neighborhood’s colorful history, while families can explore the whimsical exhibitions at the New Children’s Museum; shout “all aboard!” at the USS Midway Museum; take the San Diego Trolley to Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo; and ride the carousel in Seaport Village.
