Better known by its affectionate local nickname of “the Swan,” Erasmus Bridge crosses the River Nieuwe Maas with its elegant white spines, constructed in 1996 to link north and south Rotterdam across the harbor. Designed by Ben van Berkel, the bridge is an iconic landmark in Rotterdam, and its 456-foot (139-meter) single pylon supports 32 steel cables from which the half-mile (800 m) roadway is suspended. The southern side of the bridge includes Europe’s heaviest bascule, which lifts in order to let shipping transport through. It’s best seen at close quarters from the water on a harbor tour, from above on the viewing platform of Euromast or from the walking and cycling trails around the Port of Rotterdam.

The Swan is beautifully illuminated at night and often provides an eerie backdrop for Rotterdam’s festivals and fireworks displays. In 2005, several planes flew beneath the bridge as part of the daring “Red Bull Air Race.”

We are 2 flight attendants who are professionals in the world of travel with many years of experience under our belt of service, customer care and knowledge or international travel. We will gladly take you through our metropolis allowing you to admire famous icons. The part we always liked about a tour was introduced to those hidden local gems: A hidden garden, a quirky name of a building or statue, a winding, trendy alley were 'things happen' a place to get authentic food or simply be able to get into the beat of the city as it reveals itself to us! You know that satisfying feeling in your heart when you have been to a city and felt really embraced by it? That is the feeling we are determined you will leave Rotterdam with.

Rotterdam & Kinderdijk: Welcome to the Future, Welcome to the Past

Rotterdam & Kinderdijk: Welcome to the Future, Welcome to the Past

Combine a private tour of Rotterdam, city of the future, with the wonders of the 18th-century windmills of Kinderdijk. Climb the Euromast to have an amazing view of the largest port of Europe and visit a working windmill to learn about 700 years of water management. Rotterdam is the Dutch center of landmarks and experimental architecture. After bombings destroyed the entire heart of Rotterdam during World War II, the Dutch rebuilt the city and Rotterdam developed into Europe’s largest port from which the city earns the title ‘Gate to the World’. The windmills of Kinderdijk, meaning ‘Children’s Dike’, represent exactly that. These 19 windmills were built around 1740 to drain the Polder and prevent the land from flooding. Kinderdijk is the largest concentration of such old windmills in the Low Lands and have been on the UNESCO World Heritage List ever since 1997.

Delft & Rotterdam, the Old vs the New | Small Public Experience from Amsterdam

Delft & Rotterdam, the Old vs the New | Small Public Experience from Amsterdam

Join our small public experience for maximum six travelers and a private guide from Amsterdam and visit Delft first. Delft is famous for William of Orange, ‘Father of the Nation’ and for Delft Blue Pottery. Set off on a walking tour and learn about Dutch history. And since Royal Delft is the only remaining pottery dating from the 17th century, a short live-demonstration on how it's made cannot be missed. Next is Rotterdam, an important sea port city that is (inter)nationally known as a city of innovative architecture. Embark on a 75-min harbor cruise; after all, it is the best way to see how water shapes the cityscape of Rotterdam. Be amazed by the impressive skyline and the ultramodern handling of thousands of containers. Walk to the market hall in the city center, one of the city’s signature buildings. Pass by the old Harbor with its historical ships and walk through the 'cube forest’ of apartments. At the market hall you have some personal time for your own explorations.

Private Experience to Rotterdam for a Walking Tour and Harbor Cruise

Private Experience to Rotterdam for a Walking Tour and Harbor Cruise

Visit Rotterdam, the city famous for its innovative architecture. To many this non-touristy city has the most impressive skyline in Holland and maybe even in Europe. ‘Rotterdam is to architecture, what Paris is to fashion and Los Angeles to entertainment’ (New York Times). Upon arrival, set off on a private guided walking tour and pass by the Old Harbor with its historical ships and the ‘forest’ cube-shaped apartments. The tour ends at the Markthal. Enjoy some personal time to grab a bite, explore the city center or St Lawrence Church, the last medieval remnant in the city center. Instead of personal time, you can also opt to visit the 607 ft high Euromast tower. The elevator takes you to the top from where you have an amazing bird’s eye view over the city. Finally, embark on a harbor cruise and enjoy a 75-min tour through one of the largest seaports in the world. Be amazed by the impressive skyline, the imposing buildings, and the ultramodern handling of thousands of containers.
