The undergrounds of Trastevere
The name of the neighborhood "Trastevere" literally means "Beyond the Tiber".
In ancient times Jews and Liberti lived here (the slaves who had bought their freedom). Trastevere is one of the most beautiful and ancient quarters of the city, rich in history, legends and underground sites.
We will begin our journey to discover the curiosities of Trastevere, such as the oldest synagogue in Rome.
We will visit undergrounds of extraordinary and unusual churches and walk in the small ancient alleys. We will then cross the Tiber River to the Tiber Island where, believe it or not, an order of monks still maintains, under their monastery, an ancient underground cemetery, where we will see the preserved remains of many tens of skeletons (If this site is unavailable , we will visit the underground of San Nicola).
During the experience we will have the pleasure of tasting some peculiarities of Roman food.
