BRIEF OVERVIEW: Yaxha is an archeological site approximately one hour from Tikal National Park and one hour from Flores. It is a place where you can enjoy nature and water, since the Park is between two lakes that can be seen from the top of some temples.

Yaxha is an archeological site approximately one hour from Tikal National Park and one hour from Flores. It is a place where you can enjoy nature and water, since the Park is between two lakes that can be seen from the top of some temples. Yaxha is located in the Maya Biosphere Reserve which is the second largest preserved jungle in the Americas.

Nakum is Maya City deep in the Jungles of Peten with monumental architecture, Palaces and Temples on top of other limestone platforms. Most still home to a large number of animals since they are covered under vegetation. The first part of the trip is paved road but at Yaxha you change to a 4x4 Vehicles which are the only ones that could go through the forest trails that get very muddy during the rainy season - all great ingredients to make the journey a bit more exciting and adventureous. On our way back we visit Yaxha maya site that's on the the lake side. We climb structures like the Pyramid of Mayor Astronomic center and the Temple of the Red Hands where we wait for the sun to set behind the lake and mountains. At 6:30pm approximately we drive back to Flores which should be one hour and half.

El Mirador is a breathtakingly beautiful city with massive buildings. This city precedes others like Tikal by a couple of centuries. El Mirador was discovered less than 100 years ago, and they are still exploring and excavating, it is believed that there are more than 200 small cities around El Mirador that used to be like the suburbs. Without a doubt, there is much to explore and much to know. A 5-day, 4-night tour sounds a bit challenging, but you will enjoy every step of this tour. The road is flat, and we will walk between 5 to 6 hours a day making stops to rest and eat a snack every two hours. During this adventure, you will visit 3 Mayan cities in total: El Tintal, La Muerta and El Mirador. Your visit will also contribute to the Carmelita community. The team that will accompany you throughout the tour is part of a community cooperative, and the proceeds directly help the entire neighborhood.
