Wall Street

Wall Street, 10005

The Basics

Wall Street features many examples of grand architecture, including the New York Stock Exchange and the 18th-century Federal Hall, commemorating the site where the first US Congress convened and Washington was sworn in as president. More contemporary works include Santiago Calatrava’s World Trade Center Oculus and One World Trade Center, the tallest skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere.

With New York’s Financial District also inextricably connected to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, many walking tours of the area include visits to the National September 11 Memorial. Tours (private and group) typically also take visitors to such landmarks as the Charging Bull sculpture and New York Stock Exchange and some also include access to the One World Observatory. Fans of the hit musical Hamilton can also take a specialized walking tour to places associated with the Founding Father.

Wall Street & Financial District Private Walking Tour
Irene is a lovely person. Instantly we all 'clicked' with her and we thoroughly enjoyed our morning seeing the sites and learning about the Wall Street area. We had all sorts of questions and she answered everything in a way that was coherent, understandable, and relatable. We are definitely going to use her again when we next visit NYC!

Statue of Liberty Ticket, 9/11 Memorial and Wall Street Tour
I thought this was a very informative tour. Our guide took us to all the historic landmarks in south Manhattan. The only criticism I have is that our guide talked way too much, going on tangents with stories. I really just wanted to see the historic sites and have an interaction with them, rather than a long history lesson in the cold.

Davidson the instructor was an excellent tour guide he was very well informed of the history in New York. However once arriving at battery park it was very unorganized two many lines and over an hour wait to even get on the ferry. But the scenery was awesome

Very knowledgeable guide. We learned a lot. We also arrived late due to subway issues. He called us and let us know where we could meet him. Great customer service.

When to Get There

On weekends, when banks are closed and streets are near empty, it can feel like you have the whole place to yourself, allowing you the space to take in the architecture. Note, however, that Wall Street restaurants primarily serving the people who work there are usually also closed on weekends. If you want to see Wall Street in action, visit on a weekday morning.
