V. Sattui Winery Tours and Activities

Located in St. Helena, V. Sattui Winery dates back to 1885 and produces small-batch wines with a focus on organic and sustainable farming practices. Learn more about about how its wines are made on a tour of the Italian-style property, or stop by for a tasting.
The Basics
V. Sattui Winery is in the winery-rich western side of Napa County, making it easy to visit as part of a more comprehensive visit. Book a wine tour of the area with included transportation and relax as someone else handles the driving; private tours are available if you prefer a custom itinerary. Or, visit V. Sattui independently, but plan ahead as reservations are required for many of the winery's experiences.
The winery is home to three tasting rooms. Two of them require reservations, while the Marketplace Tasting Room is open to walk-ins for a paid tasting of sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, zinfandel, and more. To enhance your experience, make a reservation for a winery tour with include tasting, or schedule a food and wine pairing.
Things to Know Before You Go
- Reservations are required for V. Sattui’s tours, wine and food pairings, seasonal tastings, and terrace tastings.
- The winery has a deli and an oak tree-shaded picnic ground where you can have lunch.
- Some group wine tours include winery tasting fees while others don’t; read the inclusions before booking so you know what to expect.
- When planning your trip to Napa Valley, factor in time for traffic, as Bay Area locals flock to wine country on weekends.
- Many wine tours depart from San Francisco but some only pick up in Sonoma or Napa, so be sure to book a tour that matches your location.
How to Get There
V. Sattui Winery sits along Highway 29 in St. Helena, 17 miles (30 kilometers) north of Napa. It’s just two miles (three kilometers) off the Silverado Trail, which is lined with wineries, and 70 miles (110 kilometers) north of San Francisco.
When to Get There
The public tasting room is open daily from morning to early evening. The winery's own tour takes place daily around lunch. Cabernet seasonal tastings take place November through March. The terrace is closed for tastings in fall and winter.
Weekend Barbecues
On Saturday and Sunday afternoons when the weather cooperates, V. Sattui serves up Italian-style pizzas from a wood-fired pizza oven, as well as items such as ribs, steak, salmon, and grilled bread with mozzarella.
