The Basics

Visit the Duomo independently or take a guided tour to learn more about the magnificent stained-glass windows, rooftop terraces, and underground crypt which houses the 16th-century tomb of St. Charles Borromeo. Time-pressed travelers can also combine a tour of the Duomo with the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II shopping arcade, La Scala Opera House, or a viewing of da Vinci’s The Last Supper. For more insight, don’t miss the adjacent Duomo Museum, which charts the buildings long and illustrious history.

Milan Walk
Wonderful day trip throughout Milan. We visited the Duomo and walked around the area. Also had the opportunity to see the Last Supper, Roman artifacts and a number of other exciting moments in Italian history and art.

Highlights & Hidden Gems With Locals: Best of Milan Private Tour
Great personal service from Alessandro. Nothing beats meeting local people and then sharing their city with you to see things that you would never have seen or noticed. Off the beaten track seeing the “real” city. Loved every second.

Donatella was a fantastic tour guide. She is very insightful. I learned so much about the Last Supper and the Sforza Family. Highly recommended if it's your first time in Milan.

Milan Super Saver: Skip-the-Line Duomo and Rooftop Guided Tour
Chiara was a fantastic tour guide!!! She was knowledgeable, engaging, and fun. It was clear she’s passionate about art, history, and Italy (Milan, especially). She kept things moving well and told us interesting stories. We had a small group (only 6 people) and it was the perfect size. My only suggestion is to make the tour a little shorter. If Chiara had not been so great, a 3 hour tour would have been brutal.

Private Best of Milan Guided Tour with Duomo, La Scala Theatre and Sforza Castle
Our tour guide, Valeria, was one of the best tour guides we've ever experienced. Other people apparently felt the same; strangers would walk up to us; Valeria would welcome them with open arms, and they would tell us that she was the best tour guide in Milan. And she was.

Best of Milan Walking Tour with Skip-the-Line Ticket to Duomo & ‘Last Supper’
Eliza was delightful and informative. Our 8 person private tour of the cathedral and the last supper were supplemented by her knowledge of Milan, it’s history and neighborhoods. We were only in Milan for a day but feel like we saw and learned a lot about Milan. Highly recommend.

Private Milan Segway Tour - full city center & Darsena - 3 hours
Emilio provided a great tour of the city, we were able to modify the tour to our liking and change the itinerary. He ensured that everyone was safe on the Segway in the busy city. One of the best ways to cover all of Milan.

Great tour guide & amazing to see The Last Supper. Really enjoyed it. Knocked a star off as it was expensive. Wouldn't fault it other than that though.

Milan Half-Day Sightseeing Tour with da Vinci's 'The Last Supper' with Hotel Pickup
Great tour with an extremely knowledgeable and enjoyable tour guide, Samantha. We definitely recommend this tour for getting great information as you tour through some of the great museums. Samantha knew the ends and outs of the museums so she could navigate us through the crowds in the most efficient manner. We had an hour break for lunch on our own before beginning the second part of the tour. This gave our feet a nice break because there is a lot of walking. A definite 5 star tour!

How to Get There

The Duomo is located in the historic center of the city, on pedestrianized Piazza del Duomo. Since it can't be directly accessed by car, it's best to reach the cathedral on foot or by public transport; the closest metro station is right in front of the cathedral. You can also book a private tour with included transportation. If you’re visiting Rome, Venice, or Verona but want to see the cathedral of Milan, note that high-speed train tickets are a very effective means of travel.

When to Get There

The largest church in Italy stays consistently busy throughout the day, but skip-the-line entry allows visitors to jump the queues no matter what the time. Evening tours are available for visitors who would prefer to spend their rooftop visit peering over an illuminated and awe-inspiring skyline.

Gothic Milan

While the Duomo is easily one of Milan's most impressive examples of Gothic architecture, there are further examples across the city for design and history buffs to admire. Check out one of the first Gothic buildings in Italy, the Chiaravelle Abbey, or visit the Palazzo Borromeo, just a 10-minute walk from Milan Cathedral.
