The Basics

The Road to Hana connects the towns of Kahului and Hana, hugging the coast for a distance of 64 miles. It’s famous for its difficult driving terrain and spectacular scenery. Highlights along the route include the seven sacred pools of Oheo, the Twin Falls waterfall, the black sand beach at Wai’anapanapa State Park, Honomanu Bay, and the Hana Lava Tube.

Driving along the route can be challenging for more inexperienced drivers, so if you’re not confident or don’t feel like spending an entire day behind the wheel, consider joining a guided full-day tour. For a more glamorous option, you can also get a bird’s eye view on a helicopter tour.

Road to Hana Day Trip
This excursion is a must do if visiting Maui! The black sand beach was amazing and this tour was the perfect way to experience the local culture. Our tour guide Malia was great! She went above and beyond to ensure all of her guest's needs were met while maintaining safety. She was very knowledgable and provided a wonderful day on the Road to Hana!

Small Group Road to Hāna Tour 6 to 8 passengers
Our guide, Charmaine (forgive me if spelled incorrectly) made this trip so fun and pleasurable. She was very conscientious of our safety at all times and is one badass driver on the road to Hana. So glad we chose to do a guided tour and not attempted this ourselves. Some parts are really treacherous. Charmaine, being a lifelong resident of Maui, knows the island and its history so well. Thank you for a great trip and making sure we were all fed well.

Hāna and Beyond - Full Circle Rainforest Tour.
Glen was a great knowledgeable driver. Road to Hana was great, our bus was pretty packed with 13 people + Glen, thought it wouldn’t have been that full due to COVID. Wish there were more stops on the journey, basically the highlights were the waterfall and black sand beach. Could have gone without stopping at the fruit stand, was 50 minutes long, would rather have gone to another waterfall or beach. People did get motion sickness in our tour, so be prepared if you come.

Small-Group Road to Hana Luxury Tour with Helicopter Flight return
Our experience is as fantastic. From start to finish the tour was even more than we expected. Our tour guide Scott made everything even more memorable. He was great at engaging everyone, helping with pictures and ensuring everyone’s safety. He really made the trip that much better. Would HIGHLY recommend. The day is broken up nicely with the fantastic helicopter tour on the way back.

Small Group Road to Hāna Tour 6 to 8 passengers
We had a great time. Chairmaine our driver was very accommodating. We toured around the area of Hana which is not always the case for other tour companies. We also had a chance to try talk the owner, Charlie who is a very down to earth guy that you could get. The free lunch with Huli Huli Chicken and ribs was the best. Mahalo tour is the only tour having this kind of lunch. Mahalo to you, Chairmaine and Charlie!

Maui Tour : Road to Hana Tour from Lahaina
It was our first trip to Maui and the road to Hana was our most memorable part of our vacation. Malia is a phenomenal tour guide. Highly recommend her. She stopped by all the fun spots and shared so many wonderful stories about her culture and the place. We are leaving Hawaii with lots of good memories from this trip.

Road to Hana Adventure
Our driver Peko was phenomenal. He was so engaging, he knew so much and we were in awe of the word "family" bestowed upon is. We don't want to do "road to hana" without his knowledge ever again. A true talent. Mahalo Peko

Explore the Hana Lava Tube (officially called the Ka’eleku Caverns), with flashlights to see about a third of a mile of unique geological formations, including “lavacicles” and a famous area that looks like molten chocolate.
