The Basics

There are few better ways to feel like a Londoner than a stroll around Borough Market. With more than 100 stalls selling everything from Italian cheese and Morecambe Bay shrimp to housemade fudge and fresh-from-the-oven baked goods, the legendary marketplace is a popular inclusion on London food tours. A walking tour with a local guide will give you the inside scoop on the most popular vendors and best prices.

Chris was an outstanding and informative guide. I loved all the tastings (they were very generous) and appreciated the vegetarian accommodations. I especially enjoyed the free time allowed at the Market. Can’t miss with this experience!

Secret Food Tour: London Bridge & Borough Market w/ Private Tour Option
This tour was a very last minute pivot for us and we were so glad we did it. The guide was very informative about the Borough and we never felt rushed. We did it at a 10:30 start, so it was a great way to have a walking lunch.

Chris provided great expertise and commentary as we went. The food offerings were abundant, interesting, and delightful. There was not a great deal of walking, and the Borough Market was a fascinating riot of colors, flavors, and new adventures we had not anticipated. We would highly recommend this tour for others.

Borough Market Food Tour with a Foodie Tailored to Your Tastes & Interests
We enjoyed this tour, and Becky was one of the main reasons. Great conversations and recommendations on the market. Once we were stuffed at the market, we had a nice stroll on the river as she pointed out several interesting and historical items.

Chris was a great guide. You do eat a ton - and learn quite a bit while doing so about the history and nuances of the area. London is rich with history and this tour was not an exception. You will learn quite a bit while eating about 7-8 small courses. It is a lot - but not crazy. .

Borough Market and beyond
I was very happy to find out on meeting the guide just near borough market that it was just going to me and the tour guide. He took me along for a fantastic walk and we saw some amazing places and learnt some great facts. He left me at the Tate modern which I explored for 2 hours. I would definitely recommend for the young and old.

Secret Food Tour: London Bridge & Borough Market w/ Private Tour Option
Our tour was awesome! We had the best guide Gary Bleasdale. We were lucky enough to have a private tour for 2. The market was very busy. We ate some great food. Gary's connections through the secret food tour helped us skip some lines. We were seated immediately at the restaurants and food was provided quickly. We felt like royalty. Gary has a great sense of humor and was very personable. We loved every moment of the tour. Definitely recommend!

How to Get There

Borough Market is located in London Bridge on the south side of the River Thames and just a short stroll from the bridge itself and The Shard. The easiest way to get there is on the Tube, and the closest station is London Bridge on the Northern and Jubilee lines. Driving is not recommended as the market is in the congestion-charge zone and there’s no on-site parking.

When to Get There

Borough Market is open from Wednesday to Saturday, with a smaller market held on Mondays and Tuesdays. To avoid crowds, arrive early on a Saturday morning or come on a weekday afternoon. However, for the freshest produce and best choice, aim to get there before the lunchtime rush, when sandwiches, baked goods, and made-to-order products might sell out.
