The excursion will take place in the Cocchiara Valley, which currently hosts a thousand cows and horses: there are also 24 natural springs throughout the valley. Pedaling along the high altitude paths we will reach a church dedicated to Sant’Eusanio (1399 meters), on a plateau with a view of Pizzo Cefalone and the Corno Grande of the Gran Sasso d'Italia. We will continue along a magical path immersed in the woods, reaching the fascinating Romanesque abbey (XII century), in splendid isolation, of Saints Crisante and Daria (1202 m).

The excursion will stop in one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, Santo Stefano di Sessanio and the Castle of Rocca Calascio, one of the 15 most beautiful castles in the world for National Geographic, where short stops are planned. On the way back it will be possible to rest while tasting roasts and other typical local products at the Montecristo refuge. Necessary equipment: helmet, mountain shoes, gloves, sunglasses, shorts with back, long socks, backpack, at least 1 liter of water, bars, sunscreen, raincoat and long-sleeved shirt. A good athletic preparation is required and halves the use of bicycles.

The peaks that delimit and surround what is commonly defined as "Little Tibet" are among the highest and most suggestive of the Apennines. What is most striking in Campo Imperatore are the spaces, the vast dimensions that are always totally visible. The endless pastures are used for the summer pasture of sheep flocks and herds of cattle and horses that transhuman in Puglia in winter, in a ritual that has been repeated for thousands of years, transhumance.
